Dear Aspirants,
SSC (staff selection commission) is the commission that conducts various examinations for the government posts in the country. SSC conducts mainly three examinations named MTS (Multitasking Staff ), CHSL ( Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination), and CGL (Combined Graduate Level). Now SSC has released the official notification for CGL level posts. The aspirants who are preparing for all these examinations are a little bit confused between the Differences between SSC CGL and SSC CHSL. Here we will enlist the main differences between SSC CHSL and SSC CGL as follows:
Official Notifications: SSC released official notifications for CHSL tentatively in November/December and for CGL tentatively in April/May every year.
Eligibility Criteria :
(a) Age limit For SSC CHSL:
18-27 years as on 01.08.2018 (Candidates born not before 02-08-1991 and not later than 01-08-2000).

b) Educational Qualification For SSC CHSL:
i. Must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
ii. For Data Entry Operator in the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG): 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
Essential Academic Qualifications For SSC CGL:
The basic qualification for SSC CGL is Graduation but it depends upon the post as follows. The candidates appearing in the final year of their graduation can also apply, however they must possess Essential qualification on or before 1st August 2018.
(i) Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer:
(a) Essential Qualifications: Bachelor‟s Degree from a recognized University or Institute
(b) Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Accountant or cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
Note-I: During the period of probation direct recruits shall have to qualify the “Subordinate Audit Service Examination” in respective branches for confirmation and regular appointment as Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.
(ii) Junior Statistical Officer: Bachelor‟s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level:
or Bachelor‟s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
(iii) All other Posts: Bachelor‟s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
Application Fees:
The application fee for both SSC CHSL and SSC CGL (Rupees One Hundred only) for Rs. 100/-Fee is The Application Fee can be paid through SBI Challan/ SBI Net Banking or by using Visa, Mastercard or Maestro Credit or Debit card. Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of fee.

Tier II:
For SSC CHSL (Descriptive Paper):
Tier-II Paper will be a descriptive Paper of 100 Marks in ‘Pen and Paper Mode. The duration of the paper would be for one hour (20 minutes compensatory time will also be provided to the candidates mentioned in Para 7 above). The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter/ Application of approximately 150-200 words. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 percent. The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English. The part of paper written in Hindi and Part in English will not be evaluated.
For SSC CGL:
This test is also a multiple choice objective paper, but unlike Tier I, it held over a period of two days. For all posts excluding that related to Assistant Audit officer and Statistical Investigator, there are only two tests namely Quantitative Abilities and English Language. After Tier II test, the merit is made based on aggregate marks of Tier I and Tier II.

Note-:
Tier III :
For SSC CHSL:
Tier-III of the Examination would be the Skill Test/ Typing Test which would be of qualifying nature. The final merit of the successful candidates would be determined on the basis of total score obtained by them in Tier-I and Tier-II.
For SSC CGL:
SSC - CGL Tier III is a descriptive type Examination and it is consist of easy writing and letter writing on the current issues of the country.
Tier IV:
For SSC CGL:
After clearing the Tier I and Tier II, the selected candidates gets qualified for Tier III. Earlier the SSC conducted Interview after Tier II but from last year (2016-17) it was discontinued. In this Tier, SSC checks Computer Proficiency Test/ Skills for the selected posts (SSC named those posts in the official notification) and this round is also meant for document verification for all the selected candidates.

1. Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): Pay Band -1 (Rs. 5200-20200), Grade Pay: Rs. 1900 (pre-revised)
2. Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA): Pay Band -1 (Rs. 5200-20200), Grade Pay: Rs. 2400 (pre-revised) Data Entry Operator(DEO): Pay Band-1 (Rs. 5200-20200), Grade Pay: Rs. 2400 (pre-revised) and
3. Data Entry Operator, Grade ‘A’: Pay Band-1 (Rs. 5200-20200), Grade Pay: Rs. 2400 (pre-revised).
For SSC CGL :
