IMPORTANT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN IBPS PO AND IBPS RRB PO

Introduction to IBPS PO: IBPS PO Exam is conducted for the recruitment of probationary officers in Public sector banks.

Introduction to IBPS RRB PO: IBPS CWE-RRB exams are conducted for the recruitment of Regional Rural Banks. IBPS CWE-RRB PO exam is conducted for the recruitment of both Officers (Scale I, II and III)

The selection process of IBPS RRB PO and IBPS PO: The selection process for both exams is consist of three stages-

1. Preliminary Exam

2. Mains exam

3. Interview

The mains exam is consists of a computer-based examination + a Descriptive test.

There is a sectional time limit for each section.

The mains exam is consist of only the computer-based examination.

There is no sectional time limit.

IBPS PO Mains exam: 

The main difference between IBPS PO and RRB PO mains exam is that there is a sectional time limit in IBPS PO for each section.

Interview for both exams:

Shortlisted Candidates in the main examination of both posts are subsequently called for an Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organizations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS.

Officer Scale-I

1. Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent

2. Preference will be given to the candidates having a degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy;

3. Proficiency in local language as prescribed by the participating RRB/s* Computer knowledge or awareness will be an added qualification.

Officer Scale-II

General Banking Officer

Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Preference will be given to the candidates having a degree in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy. Two years as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution.
Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers
Officer Scale-III
Information Technology Officer: Degree from a recognized University in Electronics / Communication / Computer Science / Information Technology or it's equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Desirable: Certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP, etc. One year
Chartered Accountant: Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. One Year
Law Officer: Degree from a recognized University in Law or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Two years as an  advocate or should have worked as Law Officer in Banks or Financial Institutions for a period not less than two years
Treasury Manager: Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or MBA in Finance from a recognized university/ institution. One Year
Marketing Officer: MBA in Marketing from a recognized university. One Year
Agricultural Officer: Degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Dairy/ Animal Husbandry/ Forestry/ Veterinary Science/ Agricultural Engineering/Pisciculture from a recognized university or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
