1. SOJOURN (noun, verb) – ठहरना
Pronunciation:
so-jern / so-jun
Meaning: a temporary stay; stay somewhere temporarily
Synonyms: stay, visit, stop; live, put up, stop over
Antonyms: journey, departure; move, depart, migrate, proceed
Usage:

  • My sojourn in the youth hostel was thankfully short. (noun)
  • She had sojourned once in Egypt. (verb)

2. CIRCUMSPECT (noun) – चौकन्ना, होशियार
Pronunciation:
sir-kum-spekt
Meaning: careful not to take risks
Synonyms: cautious, wary, careful, chary, guarded, on one's guard, watchful, alert, attentive, heedful, vigilant
Antonyms: unguarded, incautious
Usage: The politicians were very circumspect in their statements.

3. RESTIVE (adjective) – बेसब्र, बेचैन
Pronunciation: res-tiv
Meaning: (of a person) unable to remain still, silent, or submissive, especially because of boredom or dissatisfaction
Synonyms: restless, fidgety, edgy, on edge, tense, uneasy
Antonyms: calm, biddable, peaceable
Usage: The crowd had been waiting for hours and many were becoming restive.

4. MORATORIUM (noun) – अधिस्थगन
Pronunciation: morut-ori-um
Meaning: a temporary prohibition of an activity
Synonyms: embargo, ban, prohibition, suspension, postponement
Antonyms: continuance, continuation, resumption, recommencement
Usage: Billy, a fisherman, was upset when he learned of the fishing moratorium.

5. AVID (adjective) – उत्सुक
Pronunciation:
avid
Meaning: having or showing a keen interest in or enthusiasm for something
Synonyms: keen, eager, enthusiastic, ardent, passionate, devoted
Antonyms: apathetic, half-hearted
Usage: She's an avid reader of historical novels.

6. REVILE (verb) – धिक्कारना
Pronunciation:
ri-va-il
Meaning: criticize in an abusive or angrily insulting manner
Synonyms: criticize, censure, condemn
Antonyms: praise, extol
Usage: He would revile them if they displeased him.

7. PREVALENCE (noun) – साधारणता, सामान्यता
Pronunciation: prevuluns
Meaning: the fact that something is very common or happens often
Synonyms: commonness, generality, pervasiveness, universality, ubiquity
Antonyms: uncommonness
Usage: The prevalence of diabetes and obesity in adults continues to rise as junk food portion sizes get bigger and bigger.

8. THROES (noun) – संताप
Pronunciation: thro-z
Meaning: intense or violent pain and struggle, especially accompanying birth, death, or great change
Synonyms: agony, pain, paroxysm, pangs, suffering, torture, torment
Antonyms: comfort, ease, easiness
Usage: His large manufacturing company was in the throes of hard times.

9. SOAR (verb) – बहुत वृद्धि होना; ऊंची उड़ान भरना
Pronunciation:
so-r
Meaning: increase greatly; fly or rise high in the air
Synonyms: wing, take, take flight, climb, rise, mount
Antonym: plummet
Usage: Air pollution will soon soar above safety levels.

10. GRIEVOUS (adjective) – क्षतिकर
Pronunciation: gree-vus
Meaning: (of something bad) very severe or serious
Synonyms: serious, severe, grave, bad, critical, dreadful
Antonyms: slight, trivial, good, venial
Usage: He survived in spite of suffering grievous injuries.
