Synonyms: sacred, hallowed, respected, inviolable, inviolate
Usage: The award-winning filmmaker felt his movies were too sacrosanct to be criticized by the media.
3. SCANT (adjective) – थोड़ा, कम
Pronunciation: skant
Meaning: not sufficient or satisfactory
Synonyms: little, minimal, limited, negligible, meagre, insufficient
Antonyms: abundant, ample, sufficient
Usage: The story has received scant attention in the press.
4. MALPRACTICE (noun) – अनाचार
Pronunciation: mal-prak-tis
Meaning: improper, illegal, or negligent professional behaviour
Synonyms: wrongdoing, negligence, carelessness, incompetence
Usage: The head nurse was reduced to ordinary nurse due to malpractice.
5. FRACTIOUS (adjective) – बेलगाम, झगड़ालू
Pronunciation: frak-shus
Meaning: (typically of children) irritable and quarrelsome
Synonyms: grumpy, grouchy, crotchety
Antonyms: contented, affable
Usage: The children were predictably fractious.
6. OVERRATE (verb) – अधिमूल्यांकन करना
Pronunciation: over-reit
Meaning: have a higher opinion of (someone or something) than is deserved
Synonyms: overestimate, overvalue
Antonyms: underrate, underestimate
Usage: I think his work is extremely overrated.
7. WORTHWHILE (adjective) – उचित, अहम
Pronunciation: wurth-wa-il
Meaning: worth the time, money, or effort spent; of value or importance
Synonyms: valuable, usable, usable, beneficial
Antonyms: worthless, useless
Usage: Extra lighting would make a worthwhile contribution to road safety.
8. MUNDANE (adjective) – ग़ैरदिलचस्प, सांसारिक
Pronunciation: mun-dein
Meaning: lacking interest or excitement; of this earthly world rather than a heavenly or spiritual one
Synonyms: humdrum, dull, boring, tedious, monotonous, tiresome; earthly, worldly, terrestrial, material, temporal
Antonyms: extraordinary, imaginative; spiritual
Usage:
- It was hard to return to mundane matters after such excitement.
- According to the Shinto doctrine, spirits of the dead can act upon the mundane world.
9. ENTRUST (verb) – सौंपना
Pronunciation: in-trust / en-trust
Meaning: assign the responsibility for doing something to (someone); put (something) into someone's care or protection
Synonyms: charge, invest, endow, burden, encumber; hand over, make over, turn over, commit, assign, consign
Usage: I've been entrusted with the task of getting him safely back.
10. ODIUM (noun) – घृणा
Pronunciation: o-di-um
Meaning: general or widespread hatred or disgust incurred by someone as a result of their actions
Synonyms: disgust, abhorrence, repugnance, revulsion, repulsion, loathing
Antonyms: approval, delight
Usage: Because of my odium for the politician’s views, I have no plans to vote for him.
