1. STRIDENT (adjective) – श्रुतिकठोर
Pronunciation: strai-d(u)nt
Meaning: (of a sound) loud and harsh
Synonyms: harsh, raucous, rough, grating, rasping
Antonyms: soft, dulcet
Usage: His voice had become increasingly strident.

2. DISPEL (verb) – लुप्त करना
Pronunciation: dis-pel
Meaning: make (a doubt, feeling, or belief) disappear
Synonyms: banish, eliminate, dismiss
Antonym: engender
Usage: The National Guard was sent into the town to dispel the violent protests.

3. PREDISPOSE (verb) – मनाना, भड़काना
Pronunciation: pree-dis-po-z
Meaning: make someone inclined to a specified attitude, action, or condition
Synonyms: lead, incline, move, persuade, influence, induce
Usage: Parents who smoke predispose their children to smoking.

4. LACERATE (verb) – चीरना, फाड़ना
Pronunciation: lasur-eit
Meaning: tear or make deep cuts in (flesh or skin); criticize forcefully or severely
Synonyms: gash, slash, tear, rip, rend, mangle
Usage: The man's face was severely lacerated in the accident.

5. EXPUNGE (verb) – हटाना
Pronunciation:
iks-punj
Meaning: remove completely (something unwanted or unpleasant)
Synonyms: erase, remove, delete, wipe out, efface
Usage: He could not expunge the incident from his memory.

6. MISDEMEANOR (noun) – अपराध, दुराचार
Pronunciation:
misdi-mee-nur
Meaning: a minor wrongdoing
Synonyms: wrongdoing, crime, felony
Antonyms: blamelessness, faultlessness, guiltlessness, impeccability, innocence, irreproachability
Usage: He was charged with committing a misdemeanor.

7. DISSIDENT (noun, adjective) – असहमत, विरोधी
Pronunciation:
disi-d(u)nt
Meaning: a person who opposes official policy; in opposition to official policy
Synonyms: dissenter, objector, protester; dissentient, dissenting, disagreeing, opposing
Antonym: conformist
Usage:

  • There were many dissidents in the population. (noun)
  • With the government arrests continuing, dissident groups are becoming weaker every day. (adjective)

8. MISCREANT (noun, adjective) – बदमाश
Pronunciation: mis-kri-unt
Meaning: a person who has done something wrong or unlawful; behaving badly or unlawfully
Synonyms: criminal, culprit, wrongdoer, malefactor
Antonyms: angel, innocent, saint
Usage:

  • We need tougher penalties to discourage miscreants. (noun)
  • The person was punished for some miscreant act. (adjective)

9. AFTERMATH (noun) – दुष्परिणाम
Pronunciation:
after-math
Meaning: the consequences or after-effects of a significant unpleasant event
Synonyms: repercussions, after-effects, by-product, fallout, backwash
Usage: The aftermath of a terrorist attack is the toughest time.

10. OVERSTATE (verb) – अत्युक्ति करना
Pronunciation:
over-steit
Meaning: state too strongly
Synonyms: exaggerate, overdo, overemphasize, overplay
Antonym: understate
Usage: I overstated my case to make my point.
