1. BALEFUL (adjective) – हानिकारक
Pronunciation: beil-ful
Meaning: threatening to do something bad or to hurt someone; having a harmful or destructive effect
Synonyms: menacing, threatening, unfriendly, hostile, antagonistic, evil
Antonyms: benevolent, friendly
Usage: With baleful eyes, the vulture stared at the injured rabbit.

2. WOEBEGONE (adjective) – दिखने में दुखी
Pronunciation: woo-bi-gon
Meaning: sad or miserable in appearance
Synonyms: sad, unhappy, miserable, dejected
Antonyms: cheerful, happy
Usage: After parting from her partner, she looks woebegone.

3. STAUNCH (adjective) – निष्ठावान
Pronunciation: sto-nch
Meaning: very loyal and committed in attitude
Synonyms: stalwart, loyal, faithful, trusty, committed
Antonyms: disloyal, unfaithful, unreliable
Usage: Because Alice is a staunch fan of Sarah Wittier’s writing, she has read all of Wittier’s books.

4. JAUNTY (adjective) – जीवंत, हंसमुख
Pronunciation: jonti
Meaning: having or expressing a lively, cheerful, and self-confident manner
Synonyms: cheerful, cheery, happy, merry, jolly, joyful
Antonyms: depressed, serious, sedate
Usage: The happy children walked with jaunty steps.

5. VAUNT (verb) – डींग मारना
Pronunciation: vo-nt
Meaning: boast about or praise (something), especially excessively
Synonyms: acclaim, esteem, revere, extol, celebrate
Antonyms: criticize
Usage: He was initially vaunted by the West for his leadership of the country.

6. BOUNTY (noun) – इनाम
Pronunciation: baunti
Meaning: a sum paid for killing or capturing a person or animal
Synonyms: reward, remuneration, commission
Usage: The government has placed a bounty on the heads of many of its opponents.

7. PROFUSION (noun) – प्रचुरता
Pronunciation: pro-fyoo-zun
Meaning: large quantity of something
Synonyms: abundance, lot, mass, host, plenitude
Usage: A profusion of leaves bursts out on trees in the springtime.

8. RACIST (noun, adjective) – जातिवाद
Pronunciation:
rei-sist
Meaning: a person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another
Synonyms: xenophobe, chauvinist
Antonyms: multicultural, tolerant
Usage:

  • He has a deep hatred for racists. (noun)
  • Racist attacks are increasing across Europe. (adjective)

9. SEDITION (noun) – विद्रोहात्मक आचरण
Pronunciation: sidi-sh(u)n
Meaning: language or behaviour that is intended to persuade other people to oppose their government
Synonyms: agitation, provocation, inflaming, rebellion
Usage: The rebels were arrested for sedition when they protested outside of the dictator’s palace.

10. LITIGATION (noun) – मुकदमेबाज़ी
Pronunciation:
liti-gei-sh(u)n
Meaning: the process of taking legal action
Synonyms: legal action, lawsuit, action
Usage: Some business disputes require litigation.
