1. COGNIZANT (adjective) – जानकार
Pronunciation:
kogni-z(u)nt
Meaning: having knowledge or awareness
Synonyms: aware, conscious, apprised, abreast
Antonyms: unaware, ignorant, uninformed
Usage: He was cognizant of the truth.

2. INORDINATE (adjective) – अत्यधिक
Pronunciation: ino-di-nut
Meaning: unusually or disproportionately large
Synonyms: excessive, undue, unreasonable, unjustifiable, unwarrantable
Antonyms: moderate, limited
Usage: The case had taken up an inordinate amount of time.

3. NITTY-GRITTY (noun) – बुनियादी तथ्य
Pronunciation: niti-griti
Meaning: the most important aspects or practical details of a subject or situation
Synonyms: basics, essentials, essence, substance
Usage: When it came to the nitty-gritty of sanctions against Iran, there was nothing.

4. PARLANCE (noun) – बोल-चाल, उच्चारण
Pronunciation: paa-luns
Meaning: a particular way of speaking or using words, especially a way common to those with a particular job or interest
Synonyms: jargon, language, phraseology, vocabulary, vernacular
Antonyms:  standard language
Usage: When I heard the computer programmers talking about coding, I could not understand a word of their parlance.

5. SATE (verb) – परितृप्त
Pronunciation: seit
Meaning: satisfy (a desire or an appetite) to the full
Synonyms: satiate, fully satisfy, slake, quench, gorge
Antonyms: starve, deprive, dissatisfy
Usage: My family’s huge get-togethers are filled with so much food that they can sate the hungriest person.

6. COGENCY (adjective) – प्रभावशालता
Pronunciation: ko-junsi
Meaning: the quality of being clear, logical, and convincing
Synonyms: potency, weight, plausibility
Antonyms: weakness, vagueness
Usage: The film makes its points with cogency and force.

7. PITTANCE (noun) – अल्प पारिश्रमिक
Pronunciation: pit-uns
Meaning: a very small amount of money, especially money received as payment, income, or a present
Synonyms: next to nothing, peanuts, chicken feed, chump change
Antonyms: exuberance, abundance, profusion, lavishment
Usage: Her secretaries work tirelessly for a pittance.

8. CESSATION (noun) – समाप्ति, अंत
Pronunciation: ses-ei-sh(u)n
Meaning: the fact or process of ending or being brought to an end
Synonyms: end, ending, termination, stopping, halting, ceasing, finishing, stoppage
Antonyms: start, resumption
Usage: The bombardment continued without cessation.

9. GRATIFICATION (noun) – संतुष्टि
Pronunciation: grati-fi-kei-sh(u)n
Meaning: pleasure, especially when gained from the satisfaction of a desire
Synonyms: satisfaction, fulfilment, relief, quenching, slaking
Antonyms: dissatisfaction
Usage: His son's success was a great gratification to him.

10. RIGOUR (noun) – कठोरता
Pronunciation: ri-gur
Meaning:
the quality of being extremely thorough and careful; harsh and demanding conditions
Synonyms: thoroughness, diligence, scrupulousness, exactness, exactitude, precision, accuracy; hardship, harshness, severity, adversity, suffering
Antonyms: carelessness; pleasures
Usage:

  • Her arguments lacked intellectual rigour.
  • My health is affected by rigours of the harsh winter.
