1. ALLEGIANCE (noun) – निष्ठा, वफ़ादारी
Pronunciation: alee-juns
Meaning: loyalty or commitment to a superior or to a group or cause
Synonyms: loyalty, faithfulness, fidelity, obedience, adherence
Antonyms: disloyalty, treachery, rebellion, sedition, treason
Usage: Every day the schoolchildren pledge an oath of allegiance to their country.

2. PROCLAIM (verb) – घोषणा करना
Pronunciation: pruk-leim
Meaning: announce officially or publicly; indicate clearly
Synonyms: declare, announce, pronounce, state; demonstrate, indicate, show, signify, reveal
Antonyms: bury, conceal, cover (up), hide, suppress, withhold
Usage:

  • The government's chief scientific adviser proclaimed that the epidemic was under control.
  • His manners proclaim him a scholar.

3. EMISSARY (noun) – संदेशवाहक, दूत
Pronunciation: emi-s(u)ri
Meaning: a person sent as a diplomatic representative on a special mission
Synonyms: envoy, ambassador, diplomat, delegate
Usage: He had been engaged in emissary activity.

4. BLEMISH (noun, verb) – धब्बा, कलंक
Pronunciation: blem-ish
Meaning: a small mark or flaw which spoils the appearance of something; spoil the appearance or quality of (something)
Synonyms: imperfection, fault, flaw, defect, deformity; spoil, impair, disfigure, blight, deface
Antonyms: enhancement; enhance
Usage:

  • She has a blemish above her right eye. (noun)
  • His fame as an actor has been blemished by controversy. (verb)

5. SQUEAMISH (adjective) – अतिसंवेदनशील, मतलाहा
Pronunciation: skwee-mish
Meaning: easily made to feel sick or disgusted
Synonyms: easily nauseated, nervous
Usage: She's really squeamish and can't stand the sight of blood.

6. ELONGATE (verb) – लंबा करना, तानना
Pronunciation: ilong-eit
Meaning: to become or make something become longer, and often thinner
Synonyms: lengthen, stretch out, make longer, extend, broaden, widen, enlarge
Antonym: shorten
Usage: In an attempt to elongate her body, the dancer stood on her tiptoes and stretched her arms up to the sky.

7. INFLUX (noun) – तांता, प्रवाह
Pronunciation: in-fluks
Meaning: an arrival or entry of large number of people or things; an inflow of water into a river, lake, or the sea
Synonyms: inundation, rush, stream, flood, incursion, ingress
Antonyms: exodus; outflow, effluence, efflux
Usage: The festival is accompanied by a huge influx of tourists.

8. CHIDE (verb) – फटकारना, झिड़कना
Pronunciation: sha-id
Meaning: scold or rebuke
Synonyms: scold, chastise, upbraid, berate, castigate, lambaste
Antonym: praise
Usage: She chided him for not replying to her letters.

9. DISTEND (verb) – फूलना, फुलाना
Pronunciation:
dis-tend
Meaning: swell or cause to swell by pressure from inside
Synonyms: swell, bloat, bulge, expand, dilate, inflate, enlarge
Antonyms: shrink, contract, shrunken, deflated
Usage: The balloon was distended because of filling of hydrogen.

10. INESCAPABLE (adjective) – अनिवार्य
Pronunciation: ini-skeipub(u)l
Meaning: unable to be avoided or denied
Synonyms: unavoidable, inevitable, ineluctable, ineliminable, inexorable
Antonym: avoidable
Usage: Sometimes, our anger and frustration are caused by very real and inescapable problems in our lives.
