1. EDIFY (verb) – शिक्षा/उपदेश देना
Pronunciation: edi-fai
Meaning: instruct or improve someone morally or intellectually
Synonyms: educate, instruct, teach, school, tutor, coach, train
Usage: TV should attempt to edify the people.

2. RENEGE (verb) – मुकरना, इनकार
Pronunciation: ri-neig / ri-neeg
Meaning: go back on a promise, undertaking, or contract
Synonyms: go back on, break, back out of, pull out of
Antonyms: keep, honour
Usage: You will almost surely have to renege on some of your promises.

3. HEGEMONY (noun) – नायकत्व, प्राधान्य
Pronunciation: hi-jem-uni / hi-gem-uni
Meaning: leadership or dominance, especially by one state or social group over others
Synonyms: leadership, dominance, dominion, supremacy, ascendancy, predominance
Antonym: self-government
Usage: The three nations competed for regional hegemony.

4. PREFIGURE (verb) – पूर्वचित्रण करना
Pronunciation: pre-figuh
Meaning: be an early indication or version of (something)
Synonyms: foreshadow, presage, herald, suggest, indicate
Usage: This visit may prefigure an improvement in relations between the two countries.

5. SATURNINE (adjective) – गमगीन, उदास
Pronunciation: satuh-nain
Meaning: (of a person or their manner) feeling or causing depression
Synonyms: gloomy, sombre, melancholy, melancholic, moody, miserable
Antonyms: cheerful, jovial
Usage: The dog’s eyes became saturnine whenever he was left at home alone.

6. BUM (verb) – बिना विशेष उद्देश्य के यात्रा करना
Pronunciation: bum
Meaning: travel with no particular purpose
Synonyms: loaf, lounge, idle, laze, languish
Usage: He bummed around Florida for a few months.

7. INSIDIOUS (adjective) – क्रमिक, सूक्ष्म, लेकिन हानिकारक
Pronunciation: insidi-us
Meaning: proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with very harmful effects
Synonyms: stealthy, subtle, surreptitious, sneaking, cunning, crafty
Antonyms: straightforward
Usage: Alcohol is an insidious beverage.

8. INSIPID (adjective) – फीका, बेस्वाद; ग़ैरदिलचस्प
Pronunciation: in-si-pid
Meaning: lacking flavour; weak or tasteless; lacking vigour or interest
Synonyms: tasteless, flavourless, unflavoured; uninteresting, boring, vapid, dull, spiritless
Antonyms: tasty; interesting, imaginative
Usage: A mixture of milk and water is an insipid drink.

9. INCIPIENT (adjective) – प्रारंभिक
Pronunciation: insipi-unt
Meaning: beginning to happen or develop; (of a person) developing into a specified type or role
Synonyms: developing, impending, growing, emerging, emergent
Antonym: full-blown
Usage: The best way to stop the disease from spreading is by identifying it while it is incipient.

10. DILETTANTE (noun) – शौकिया
Pronunciation: dili-tant-ei / dili-tan-ti
Meaning: a person who cultivates an area of interest, such as the arts, without real commitment or knowledge
Synonyms: dabbler, potterer, tinkerer, trifler, dallier
Antonym: professional
Usage: I am a dilettante when it comes to dance, so I'm just going to be open about my ignorance.
