1. BULLDOZE (verb) – खदेड़ना
Pronunciation: bul-do-z
Meaning: use force insensitively when dealing with (someone or something)
Synonyms: bully, hector, browbeat, intimidate, coerce
Usage: Don't let him bulldoze you.

2. RETICENT (adjective) – अल्पभाषी
Pronunciation: reti-sunt
Meaning: not revealing one's thoughts or feelings readily
Synonyms: reserved, withdrawn, introverted, restrained, inhibited, diffident
Antonyms: expansive, garrulous
Usage: She is reticent about her achievements.

3. GAUDY (adjective) – भड़कीला
Pronunciation: go-di
Meaning: extravagantly bright or showy
Synonyms: garish, lurid, loud, over-bright, glaring
Antonyms: drab, dull
Usage: I didn't like the decorations - they looked rather gaudy.

4. BAREFACED (adjective) – असंबद्ध या बेशर्म
Pronunciation: be-uh-feist
Meaning: unconcealed or shameless
Synonyms: flagrant, blatant, glaring
Usage: Why are you telling such barefaced lies?

5. RANKLE (verb) – सताना, खिझाना
Pronunciation: ran-k(u)l
Meaning: annoy or irritate someone
Synonyms: upset, anger, irritate, offend, affront, displease
Antonym: comfort
Usage: Lisa was rankled by his comment.

6. CACKLE (verb) – ठहाका लगा कर हँसना
Pronunciation: kak(u)l
Meaning: laugh in a loud, harsh way
Synonyms: guffaw, crow, chortle, chuckle, giggle
Usage: The old woman gave a cackle at my joke.

7. GROPE (verb) – टटोलना, टोहना
Pronunciation: gro-p
Meaning: search blindly or uncertainly by feeling with the hands
Synonyms: scrabble, fish
Usage: I groped in the darkness for the phone.

8. GLUT (adjective) – भरमार
Pronunciation: glut
Meaning: an excessively abundant supply of something
Synonyms: surplus, excess, surfeit, superfluity, overabundance
Antonyms: dearth, scarcity
Usage: Because Cindy consumed a glut of food at the party, she now has a stomach ache.

9. WHET (verb) – तेज करना
Pronunciation: wet
Meaning: sharpen the blade of (a tool or weapon); excite or stimulate (someone's desire, interest, or appetite)
Synonyms: sharpen, hone, strop; stimulate, excite, arouse, rouse, kindle, trigger, spark
Antonyms: blunt; dull, spoil
Usage:

  • Stones whet a sword and difficulties strengthen willpower.
  • The smell of my grandmother’s food is enough to whet my appetite.

10. HYPE (noun, verb) – प्रचार
Pronunciation: hai-ip
Meaning: extravagant or intensive publicity or promotion; promote or publicize (a product or idea) intensively, often exaggerating its benefits
Synonyms: publicity, advertising, promotion, marketing, puff, puffery, exposure; publicize, advertise, promote, push, boost
Antonym: play down
Usage:

  • People went to see the movie because of all the hype. (noun)
  • The director is just using the controversy to hype his movie. (verb)
