1. STYMIED (verb) – बाधाएँ डालना
Pronunciation: stai•meed
Meaning: prevent or hinder the progress of
Synonyms: clog, cramp, embarrass, encumber, fetter, hamper, handicap, hinder, hobble, hold back, hold up, impede, inhibit, manacle, obstruct, shackle, tie up, trammel
Antonyms: aid, assist, facilitate, help
Usage: His action without forethought has stymied the whole plan.

2. AFFLICTION (noun) – दुःख, पीड़ा
Pronunciation: uh•flik•shn
Meaning: a cause of pain or harm
Synonyms: agony, anguish, distress, excruciation, hurt, misery, pain, rack, torment, torture, travail, tribulation, woe
Antonyms: happiness, pleasure, delight
Usage: His deafness is a great affliction to him.
    
3. NOTORIETY (noun) –  कुप्रसिद्धि
Pronunciation: now•tuh•rai•uh•tee 
Meaning: the state of being famous or well known for some bad quality or deed
Synonyms: infamy, obloquy, opprobrium, flak, disrepute
Antonyms: obscurity, esteem, honor
Usage: Even though the politician was acquitted of all charges, his career was ended by the notoriety of the trial.

4. ALTERCATION (noun) –  झगड़ा, बहस, विवाद
Pronunciation: ol•tuh•kei•shn
Meaning: a noisy argument or disagreement, especially in public
Synonyms: brawl, contretemps, controversy, cross fire, disagreement, dispute, fight, hassle, imbroglio, misunderstanding, quarrel, scrap, spat, squabble, tiff, wrangle
Antonyms: agreement, harmony, accord, peace
Usage: The boys had an altercation over the umpire's decision.

5. PERVASIVE (adjective) – व्यापक, फैलनेवाला 
Pronunciation: puh•vei•suhv
Meaning: (especially of an unwelcome influence or physical effect) spreading widely throughout an area or a group of people
Synonyms: prevalent, universal, omnipresent, ubiquitous, common, widespread 
Antonyms: uncommon, limited, scarce, narrow, rare
Usage: The filthy smell was pervasive.

6. ADULATE (verb) – चापलूसी करना, तलवे चाटना, झूठी प्रशंसा करना
Pronunciation: a•juh•leit
Meaning: too much admiration or praise for someone
Synonyms: deification, idolatry, worship, fawn, gush, extol
Antonyms: abhor, belittle, detest, disdain
Usage: Fools adulate every decision of their leaders.

7. OBSTREPEROUS (adjective) – प्रचंड, काबू के परे
Pronunciation: uhb•streh•puh•ruhs 
Meaning: noisy and difficult to control
Synonyms: unmanageable, rowdy, blatant, caterwauling, clamant, clamorous, squawking, vociferant, yowling
Antonyms: calm, quiet, restrained 
Usage: Because my nephew is obstreperous, he often gets in trouble at school.

8. LACONIC (adjective) – छोटा, लघु, संक्षिप्त 
Pronunciation: luh•ko•nuhk
Meaning: (of a person, speech, or style of writing) using very few words
Synonyms: aphoristic, apothegmatic, brief, capsule, compact, compendious, concise, crisp, curt, epigrammatic, monosyllabic, sententious, succinct, summary
Antonyms: circuitous, circumlocutory, diffuse, long-winded, prolix, rambling, verbose, windy, wordy
Usage: He sent me a laconic private message.

9. DESULTORY (adjective) – अनियमित, अव्यवस्थित
Pronunciation: deh•suhl•tuh•ree
Meaning: lacking a plan, purpose, or enthusiasm
Synonyms: aimless, arbitrary, erratic, haphazard, helter-skelter, random, scattered, slapdash, stray, intermittent, capricious
Antonyms: orderly, organized, regular, systematic
Usage: They talked briefly in a desultory manner.

10. DISHEVELLED (adjective) – अस्त-व्यस्त, गंदा
Pronunciation: duh•sheh•vld
Meaning: (of a person's hair, clothes, or appearance) untidy; disordered
Synonyms: confuse, derange, disarrange, disarray, discompose, disjoint, dislocate,  jumble, muddle, muss, rumple, scramble, shuffle, tousle, tumble, upset
Antonyms: arrange, array, dispose, order, organize, range, regulate
Usage: The wind dishevelled her hair.
