1. INCARCERATION (noun) – क़ैद होना
Pronunciation: in-kaar-sur-eishun
Meaning: the state of being confined in prison
Synonyms: imprisonment, internment, confinement, detention
Antonym: freedom
Usage: The public would not be served by her incarceration.

2. BLOCKADE (noun) – नाकाबंदी; संरोध
Pronunciation: blok-eid
Meaning: an act or means of sealing off a place to prevent goods or people from entering or leaving; seal off (a place) to prevent goods or people from entering or leaving
Synonyms: siege, encirclement, besiegement, barricade, barrier; close up, block off, shut off, seal
Usage: The elderly man used a mask as a blockade against the flu virus.

3. ABDUCT (verb) – अपहरण करना
Pronunciation: ub-dukt
Meaning: take (someone) away illegally by force or deception
Synonyms: kidnap, seize, capture
Usage: The kidnappers planned to abduct the millionaire’s daughter.

4. OPINE (verb) – राय होना
Pronunciation: o-pa-in
Meaning: hold and state as one's opinion
Synonyms: suggest, submit, advance, propose, venture, volunteer
Usage: I opine that it will rain before night.

5. ABDICATE (verb) – सत्ता त्यागना
Pronunciation: ab-di-keit
Meaning: renounce one's throne; fail to fulfil or undertake (a responsibility or duty)
Synonyms: resign, retire, quit; disown, turn down, spurn, reject, renounce
Antonyms: be crowned, accede to; accept, take on
Usage: The king was forced to abdicate the throne.

6. NASCENT (adjective) – नई उत्पत्ति
Pronunciation: nas-unt / neis-unt
Meaning: (especially of a process or organization) just coming into existence and beginning to display signs of future potential
Synonyms: budding, developing, growing, embryonic, incipient
Usage: Each of these subsystems has two nascent technologies in common.

7. CONTRACTION (noun) – सिकुड़न
Pronunciation: kun-trak-shun
Meaning: the process of becoming smaller; the process in which a muscle becomes or is made shorter and tighter; a word or group of words resulting from shortening an original form
Synonyms: shrinking, shrinkage, decrease, diminution, dwindling; tightening, tensing, flexing, constricting; abbreviation, short form, elision
Antonyms: expansion, growth; relaxation
Usage: Cold causes contraction of the metal.

8. CORE (noun) – अन्तर्भाग
Pronunciation: ko-r
Meaning: the tough central part of various fruits, containing the seeds; the part of something that is central to its existence or character; the dense central region of a planet
Synonyms: central, key, basic, fundamental; centre, interior, middle, nucleus
Antonyms: peripheral, minor
Usage:

  • The pear is rotten to the core.
  • The neutrons and protons form the core of the atom.

9. MIDST (preposition, noun) – बीच, मध्य
Pronunciation: midst
Meaning: in the middle of; the middle part or point
Synonyms: middle, centre, midpoint, kernel
Usage:

  • She left midst the function. (preposition)
  • The hut is in the midst of the forest. (noun)

10. PROLONG (verb) – लंबा करना
Pronunciation: pro-long
Meaning: extend the duration of
Synonyms: lengthen, extend, protract
Antonym: shorten
Usage: He offered her a drink to try to prolong her visit.
