Here some exceptional English words from the newspaper ‘The Hindu’ are given with their synonyms/antonyms and usage. Hopefully, this will help you improve your vocabulary.

1. ABOMINATE (verb) – नफरत करना
Pronunciation: ub-omi-neit
Meaning: to hate something very much
Synonyms: detest, loathe, hate, abhor, despise, dislike, execrate
Antonyms: like, love
Usage: All the teachers abominate cheating in examinations.

2. DISSEMINATE (verb) – फैलाना
Pronunciation: di-semi-neit
Meaning: spread (something, especially information) widely
Synonyms: spread, circulate, distribute, disperse, diffuse, proclaim, promulgate
Usage: We should disseminate science and promote the scientific spirit.

3. BEFOG (verb) – उलझन में डालना
Pronunciation: bi-fog
Meaning: make confused
Synonyms: confuse, muddle, fuddle, befuddle, addle, groggy
Usage: Her brain was befogged with lack of sleep.

4. CONTAGION (noun) – रोग-संचार, संसर्ग

Meaning: make someone believe something that is not true
Synonyms: mislead, deceive, fool, trick, dupe, hoodwink, double-cross, gull, beguile
Usage: I was angry with him for trying to delude me.

8. SWASHBUCKLE (verb) – साहसी कारनामे करना
Pronunciation: swosh-buk(u)l
Meaning: engage in daring adventures
Synonyms: daring, heroic, daredevil, swaggering, dashing, adventurous
Usage: Will he have the confidence to swashbuckle?

9. ATTRITION (noun) – कमज़ोर बनाना
Pronunciation: at-ri-shun
Meaning: the process of reducing something's strength or effectiveness through sustained attack or pressure
Synonyms: weakening, enfeebling, sapping, attenuation, harassment, harrying
Usage: The council is trying to overpower the opposition by attrition.

10. ZAP (verb) – नष्ट करना; अचानक और तेजी से आगे बढ़ना

Meaning: destroy; move or cause to move suddenly and rapidly

Usage:
