- Candidates who are selected as SBI Clerk 2017 will be under probation period for 6 months.
- A person who has completed ten years of service in the clerical cadre will be promoted to Senior Assistant.
- A person in the clerical cadre who completes twenty years of service will be promoted to the post of Special Assistant.
- A person in the clerical cadre who completes thirty years of service will be promoted to Senior Special Assistant.
Promotions for SBI Clerk to Officer Cadre:
To Trainee Officer:
After completing three years of service a clerk can become a trainee officer after giving written test and interview. The Trainee Officer will be recruited into Middle management Grade Scale II.
Directly to JMGS I:
After completing six years of Service under fast track channel of promotion or after twelve years of service under normal promotion channel a clerk can become a Junior Manager Grade Scale JMGS I officer after clearing written test and interview. The promotion also has a upper age limit. An entry level clerk can retire at the post as high as General Manager which is not usually possible in any other bank. However, this is a rare occurrence.
