Here some exceptional English words from the newspaper ‘The Hindu’ are given with their synonyms/antonyms and usage. Hopefully, this will help you improve your vocabulary.

1. AD LIB (adverb, adjective, verb, noun) – बिना तैयारी के, अविचारित

Pronunciation: ad-lib

Meaning: spoken or performed without previous preparation

Synonyms: impromptu, extempore, spontaneously, offhand; improvise, extemporize

Antonyms: planned, prepared

Usage:

In front of such a huge audience, I spoke ad lib. (adverb)
His ad lib speech was wonderful. (adjective)
The actor decided to ad-lib when he forgot his lines during a scene. (verb)
Until the next performer did not appear, host had to keep the audience busy with his ad lib. (noun)

2. EMBROIL (verb) – उलझाना; आपत्ति में डालना

Pronunciation: im-broil / em-broil

Meaning: involve someone deeply in an argument, conflict, or difficult situation

Synonyms: involve, entangle, ensnare, enmesh

Antonyms: comfort, facilitate, disengage, detach, dissociate, extricate, disconnect, disentangle

Usage: Don't embroil me in your quarrel.

3. CLUSTER (noun, verb) – समूह, गुच्छा, झुंड

Pronunciation: klus-tur

Meaning: a group of similar things or people positioned or occurring closely together

Synonyms: bunch, clump, collection, mass, knot, group, clutch, bundle; congregate, gather, assemble, huddle

Usage:

4. RINSE (verb, noun) – धो कर साफ करना

Pronunciation: rins

Meaning: wash something with clean water to remove soap, detergent, dirt, or impurities

Meaning: a thing that leads someone to do something

Antonym: deterrent

9. POLEMIC (noun) – आलोचनात्मक

Meaning: a strong verbal or written attack on someone or something

10. LABYRINTH (noun) – भूलभुलैया
