1. CONVENTION (noun) – परंपरा
Pronunciation: kun-ven-sh(u)n
Meaning: behaviour that is considered acceptable or polite to most members of a society; a way in which something is usually done
Synonyms: custom, tradition, norm
Usage: It's just a social convention that men don't wear skirts.
 
2. INCITE (verb) – भड़काना, उकसाना
Pronunciation: in-sait
Meaning: encourage violent or unlawful behaviour
Synonyms: work up, encourage, fuel, kindle, ignite, inflame, stimulate
Antonyms: suppress, dissuade, deter
Usage: Just a few words will incite him into action.
 
3. SIESTA (noun) – मध्याह्न विश्राम
Pronunciation: si-estuh
Meaning: in afternoon rest or nap, especially one taken during the hottest hours of the day in a hot climate
Synonyms: nap, catnap, doze, drowse, rest, snooze, forty winks
Usage: I went upstairs for my afternoon siesta.
 
4. RUCTION (noun) – हलचल, विवाद
Pronunciation: ruk-sh(u)n
Meaning: a disturbance or quarrel
Synonyms: noise, racket, din, commotion, fuss, pother
Antonym: harmony
Usage: We called the police when we heard the couple next door having a ruction.
 
5. INVENTORY (noun, verb) – वस्तुसूची, फेहरिस्त
Pronunciation: inv(u)nt(u)ri
Meaning: a complete list of items such as property, goods in stock, or the contents of a building; make a complete list of something
Synonyms: list, listing, catalogue, directory, record, checklist
Usage:
  • This is a detailed inventory of all the jobs to be done. (noun)
  • I inventoried his collection of drawings. (verb)
6. PENDULOUS (adjective) – लटकता हुआ
Pronunciation: pen-dyu-lus
Meaning: hanging down loosely
Synonyms: drooping, dangling, droopy, sagging, saggy
Usage: The ladies of the Southern Magnolia Garden Club sat quietly beneath the pendulous branches of the old willow tree sipping lemonade.
 
7. COMPENDIOUS (adjective) – संक्षिप्त, मुख़्तसर
Pronunciation: kum-pendi-us
Meaning: containing or presenting the essential facts of something in a comprehensive but concise way
Synonyms: succinct, pithy, short and sweet, potted, thumbnail
Antonyms: rambling, expanded
Usage: The small book included a compendious overview of the history of Feudal Japan.
 
8. RANKLE (verb) – सताना, दु:ख पहुँचाना
Pronunciation: rank(u)l
Meaning: annoy or irritate (someone)
Synonyms: annoy, upset, anger, irritate, offend, affront, displease
Usage: The fact the plane is leaving two hours late is certainly going to rankle the passengers.
 
9. PROFLIGATE (adjective) – अपव्ययी
Pronunciation: profli-gut
Meaning: recklessly extravagant or wasteful in the use of resources
Synonyms: wasteful, extravagant, spendthrift, improvident, prodigal, thriftless
Antonyms: thrifty, frugal
Usage: She is well-known for her profligate spending habits.
 
10. ABSTEMIOUS (adjective) – संयमी, शल्पाहारी
Pronunciation: ub-stee-mi-us
Meaning: indulging only very moderately in something, especially food and drink
Synonyms: temperate, abstinent, austere, moderate, self-disciplined, self-denying, restrained
Antonyms: self-indulgent, intemperate
Usage: He is abstemious in eating and drinking.
