Usage: He described the killing as a dastardly act.

Meaning: slow to act; intended to cause delay
Synonyms: unhurried, tardy, unpunctual, lax, slack, sluggish; delaying, stalling, temporizing, procrastinating, postponing

Usage:

3. INVIDIOUS (adjective) द्वेषजनक, अपमानजनक
Pronunciation: in-vidi-us
Meaning: (of an action or situation) likely to arouse or incur resentment or anger in others; (of a comparison or distinction) unfairly discriminating
Synonyms: unpleasant, awkward, difficult, undesirable; unfair, unjust, prejudicial, discriminatory, iniquitous
b: pleasant, desirable; fair
Usage:
  • I was shocked to learn that my best friend was spreading invidious rumors about me.
  • It is invidious to make special mention of only one aspect of his work.
4. AVIDITY (noun) उत्सुकता
Pronunciation: uv-iditi
Meaning: keen interest or enthusiasm

Antonyms: indifference, apathy
Usage: She reads fairy tales with avidity.
 
5. PUSILLANIMITY (noun) – बुजदिली, भीरुता
Pronunciation: pyusil-un-imiti
Meaning: lack of courage or determination
Synonyms: cowardice, timidity, fear
Antonyms: courage, bravery, pluck
Usage: During the storm the boy crawled in bed with his parents due to pusillanimity.

6. GUNG-HO (adjective) उत्साही
Pronunciation: gung-ho
Meaning: unthinkingly enthusiastic and eager, especially about taking part in fighting or warfare
Synonyms: zealous, enthusiastic
b: rational, unpassionate
Usage: I knew a lot of people who were gung-ho for the Vietnam War until it touched their lives in some way.
 
7. SABRE-RATTLING (noun) धमकाना
Pronunciation: sei-buh-rat-ling
Meaning: the display or threat of military force
Synonyms: browbeating, demoralization
Antonyms: defence, stabilization
Usage: After seven days of saber-rattling, Iran calmed down.
 
8. BRAVADO (noun) इठलाना

Usage: He is a well-known hoodlum in this neighborhood.

Meaning: a defensive wall

Usage: Our people's support is a bulwark against the enemy.
