1. DEFENDANT (noun) – प्रतिवादी, उत्तर-पक्ष
Pronunciation: di-fen-dunt
Meaning: an individual, company, or institution accused in a court of law
Synonyms: accused, appellant, litigant, respondent, suspect
Antonym: plaintiff
Usage: The defendant requested more time to prepare his case.
 
2. FOLIAGE (noun) – पत्तियां
Pronunciation: foli-ij
Meaning: plant leaves collectively
Synonyms: leaves, greenery, vegetation, herbage, verdure
Usage: Most trees lose their foliage in winter.
 
3. CHUCKLE (verb, noun) – मुंह दबाकर हंसना
Pronunciation: chuk(u)l
Meaning: laugh quietly or inwardly; a quiet or suppressed laugh

Usage:

Meaning: the process or result of becoming accustomed to a new climate or to new conditions

7. WRETCHED (adjective) – अतिदुखी; गरीबी से ग्रस्त; मनहूस
Pronunciation: rechid
Meaning: (of a person) in a very unhappy or unfortunate state; of poor quality; very bad; used to express anger or annoyance
Synonyms: miserable, unhappy, sad, broken-hearted, heartbroken, grief-stricken; harsh, hard, grim, stark, difficult, poor; despicable, contemptible, reprehensible
Antonyms: cheerful, fortunate; comfortable, luxurious, excellent; worthy, admirable
Usage:
  • I felt so wretched because I thought I might never see you again.

8. CLOY (verb) – अत्यधिक मीठा; अत्यधिक प्रचुर; अत्यधिक भावुक
Pronunciation: kloi
Meaning: being disgusting or distasteful by reason of excess cloying sweetness, richness, or sentiment
Synonyms: sickly sweet, sugary, syrupy, honeyed, oversweet, sickening
Usage: Chocolates start to cloy if you eat too much.
 
9. TOMFOOLERY (noun) – मूर्खतापूर्ण व्यवहार
Pronunciation: tom-fool(u)ri
Meaning: foolish or silly behaviour
Synonyms: silliness, fooling, clowning, capering, capers, antics
Usage: My sister is far too serious to play pranks on any of our neighbors, so I had to engage in that tomfoolery by myself.
 
10. BADINAGE (noun) – विनोदी या मजाकिया वार्तालाप
Pronunciation: badi-naaj
Meaning: humorous or witty conversation
Synonyms: banter, repartee, bantering, raillery, wit, crosstalk, wordplay, swordplay
Usage: The humorous badinage between the coworkers made the long workday go faster.
