1. DUPE (verb) छला हुआ मनुष्य
Pronunciation: joop
Meaning: a person who is tricked or swindled
Synonyms: victim, gull, innocent, pawn, puppet, fool, simpleton
Antonyms: swindler, fraud, cheat
Usage: Those men were simply the dupes of their unscrupulous leaders.
 
2. DETAIN (verb) रोकना
Pronunciation: duh·tein
Meaning: to hold someone and delay them from leaving a particular place
Synonyms: hold, seize, confine, imprison, incarcerate, impound, intern
Antonyms: allow, assist, facilitate

Meaning: casual and conversational language

Antonyms: literary, formal
Usage: I could just understand enough of the colloquial language to grasp all this.
 
5. STIFF (adjective) सख़्त

Meaning: unable to be easily bent or shaped
Synonyms: rigid, hard, firm, hardened, inelastic, inflexible, ungiving
Antonyms: flexible, plastic, limp
Usage: Because it is so stiff, the modeling clay is difficult for the kids to bend.

Meaning: to distance or detach someone or something from a group

Meaning: existing as an essential constituent or characteristic
Synonyms: intrinsic, innate, immanent, inborn, ingrained, essential, natural
Antonyms: acquired, alien
Usage: Even as a youngster, Janice showed she had an inherent talent to be a great singer.
 
8. GUILTLESS (adjective) बेगुनाह
Pronunciation: gilt·luhs
Meaning: having no guilt
Synonyms: innocent, blameless, faultless, righteous, sinless, spotless
Antonyms:blameful, guilty, sinful                                                    
Usage: Though he was guiltless of the damage, he felt morally bound to get it repaired.
 
9. ARRESTING (adjective) – आकर्षक
Pronunciation: uh·reh·stuhng
Meaning: striking in an eye-catching way
Synonyms: striking, noticeable, impressive, imposing, spectacular, breathtaking, dramatic
Antonyms: normal, ordinary, usual
Usage: Falling from the sky, the striking star was arresting and captured the astronomer’s attention.
 
10. SCANT (adjective) अपर्याप्त
Pronunciation: skant
Meaning: barely sufficient or adequate
Synonyms: little, minimal, limited, meager, insufficient, inadequate, negligible
Antonyms: abundant, ample, sufficient
Usage: We have to ration the water because we only have a scant amount.
