The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination in two main tiers. Below is the updated structure and syllabus for the 2026 recruitment cycle.
1. SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern
Tier 1 is a qualifying, computer-based objective test. Marks scored here are not counted toward the final merit list, but you must qualify to advance to Tier 2.

2. SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern
Tier 2 is the merit-deciding stage. Paper I is mandatory for all posts.

  • Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for every incorrect answer in Section I, II, and Module I of Section III.
  • Specialized Papers: Paper II (Statistics) and Paper III (General Studies: Finance & Economics) are conducted only for specific posts (JSO and AAO/Assistant Accounts Officer, respectively).
