PSPCL Eligibility Criteria
The PSPCL age limit and educational rules are strictly enforced to maintain high professional standards.
Educational Qualification (Varies by Post):

Fireman: 10th pass with Punjabi and a 1-year Fire Fighting certificate/diploma with at least 50% marks.

Laboratory Assistant: B.Sc. with Chemistry as main subject (min. 60%) OR M.Sc. (Chemistry) (min. 50%).

Electrician / Technician Grade-1: 3/4-year Diploma in relevant Engg. (min. 50%) OR Matric + ITI in relevant discipline (min. 60%) with 2 years experience as Grade-2.

Bulldozer / Loco Shunter Operator: Matric with Heavy Duty Driving License.

Welder / Certified Welder: Matric with ITI in welding and IBR 1950 welding certificate.
Punjabi Qualification (Essential for all posts): Must have passed Punjabi of at least Matriculation level or equivalent.
Age Limit (as of 01/01/2026): 18 to 37 years.
Age Relaxation: SC/BC: +5 years; PwD: +10 years; Ex-Serviceman: Service period deduction +3 years; Widows/divorced women: up to 40 years.

Punjab PSPCL Selection Process
The selection structure is straightforward and relies primarily on the online CBT examination.

Online Computer-Based Test (CBT): Subjects include Technical discipline, Punjabi, GK, Reasoning, and English.

Physical Test: Applicable only for Fireman post (height, chest, running with 60 kg stones, rope climbing, etc.).

Document Verification: Successful candidates must present original educational, caste, and domicile certificates.
PSPCL Exam Pattern
The exam pattern varies by post category (Group B vs Group C). A negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for wrong answers in the main sections.
For Certified Welder & APA (Mechanical) – Group B

For Lab Assistant, Fireman, Electrician, Technician, Welder Grade-1 – Group C

Part I (Qualifying): Punjabi Language – 50 questions (No negative marking). Minimum 50% marks required.

PSPCL Salary & Pay Scale
The selected candidates will be paid as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix. During the 3-year probation period, only the minimum admissible pay is given plus TA and medical reimbursement.
