Key Changes in the 2026 Governor Reshuffle
The 2026 reshuffle includes a mix of transfers and new appointments, involving senior political leaders, diplomats, and retired military officers.
Major changes include:
  • Shiv Pratap Shukla has been transferred from Himachal Pradesh to serve as the Governor of Telangana.
  • Jishnu Dev Varma has been moved from Telangana and appointed Governor of Maharashtra.
  • Nand Kishore Yadav has been appointed Governor of Nagaland.
  • Syed Ata Hasnain, a retired Lieutenant General of the Indian Army, has been appointed Governor of Bihar.
These changes are part of a broader reorganization of gubernatorial leadership across the country.
Changes in Lieutenant Governors of Delhi and Ladakh
The reshuffle also affects leadership in the Union Territories of Delhi and Ladakh.

  • Vinai Kumar Saxena, the current Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, has been appointed Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.

Following the resignation of C. V. Ananda Bose, West Bengal will have a new Governor. Leadership changes have also been announced for Tamil Nadu.
