On May 12, 2026, marking International Nurses Day, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2026 upon 15 distinguished nursing professionals. The ceremony, held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, recognized individuals for their exemplary service, unwavering dedication to public health, and commitment to community welfare.
Instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 1973, these prestigious awards honor nursing personnel—including Registered Nurses, Midwives, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), and Lady Health Visitors—for their outstanding contributions to clinical care, nursing education, and administration. Each recipient was honored with a certificate of merit, a medal, and a cash reward of ₹1,00,000.
