Zero Discrimination Day - 1st March 2022

We celebrate Zero Discrimination day every year on March 1st for the right of everyone to live a full and productive life. On Zero Discrimination Day this year, it is highlighted the urgent need to take action to end the inequalities surrounding income, Sex, Age, Health status, Occupation, disability, sexual orientation, drug use, gender identity, race, class, ethnicity, and religion that continue to persist. This year, the theme for Zero Discrimination Day is 'Remove Laws That Harm, Create Laws That Empower'.

World Civil Defence Day - 1st March 2022

World Civil Defence Day is celebrated internationally every year on March 1st. The purpose of this event is to make people aware of the critical role civil defense plays in disaster recovery. It promotes awareness among citizens about disaster preparation, avoidance, and self-protection. It aims to raise public knowledge of the civil defense.The theme of World Civil Defence Day 2022 is “Civil defence and management of displaced populations in face of disasters and crises; role of volunteers and the fight against pandemics”.

Self-Injury Awareness Day - 1st March 2022

Self-Injury Awareness Day, or SIAD, is a global awareness event celebrated on March 1. It draws attention to self-harm in the hope of helping people who practice it. Almost two million Americans engage in self-harm. About 17% of people will self-harm during their lifetime. People who self-harm say that it gives them a feeling of control and release from tension. Mental health organizations also make extra efforts to raise awareness about self-harm and self-injury, with some even offering free therapy sessions on the day.

World Wildlife Day- 3rd March

World Wildlife Day (WWD) will be celebrated on March 3rd, 2022 under the theme “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration”. The celebrations will seek to draw attention to the conservation status of some of the most critically endangered species of wild fauna and flora and to drive discussions towards imagining and implementing solutions to conserve them. World Hearing Day - 3rd March

World Hearing Day is held on 3 March each year to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world.On World Hearing Day 2022, WHO will focus on the importance of safe listening as a means of maintaining good hearing across the life course. The theme for World Hearing Day 2022 is 'to hear for life, listen with care'.

National Safety Day - 4th March

National Safety Day is observed every year in India on March 4 to generate awareness and commitment to working safely. It is aimed at renewing the commitment of employees and the general public to work safely throughout the year. The theme for National Safety Day 2022 is "Nurture young minds - Develop safety culture.” The Ministry of Labour, Government of India set up the National Safety Council of India (NSC) on 4 March 1966. To develop and sustain the movement on SHE that is focusing on safety, Health, and Environment at the national level. For this year, the theme of National Safety Day is -- “Nurture young minds - develop a safety culture”. 

Employee Appreciation Day - First Friday ( 4th March)

The first Friday (4th March)  in March is Employee Appreciation Day, meant to honor employees everywhere. It was created to focus the attention of employers in all industries on employee recognition. It is celebrated when employers or managers express gratitude, say thank you, and show appreciation through celebration and encouragement, employee job satisfaction and engagement increase. This was created by Dr. Bob Nelson, initially to celebrate the publication of his book 1,001 Ways to Reward Employees

International Women’s Day - 8th March 

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. It is celebrated to raise awareness of discrimination and bias and to inspire and empower us all to take action for equality. For 2022, the UN given theme is “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, which aims to recognise women who are working to build a more sustainable future.

CISF Raising Day - 10th March

The Central Industrial Security Forces(CISF) raising day is celebrated on March 10 annually. It was set up under the act of the Parliament of India in 1969. The day is observed to mark the significance of security in the critical industrial undertakings in both government and private sectors.

PI Day - 14th March

Every year on March 14, the world celebrates Pi Day to recognize the mathematical constant, Pi. It defines as the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter and the value for Pi is 3.14. diameter and its value are 3.14. Maths enthusiasts across the world hold fun events on this day to mark the celebrations. The theme of PI day 2022 is “Mathematics Unites”. 

International Day of Action of Rivers- 14th March

International Day of Action for Rivers is marked on March 14 across the world. The day is observed to sensitize people about the importance of rivers. It aims to bring people across borders, together to discuss issues about increase intending to supportive management, river pollution, river conservation, etc at a global level. The theme in 2022 is “The Importance of Rivers for Biodiversity”.

World Consumer Rights Day - 15th March

World Consumer Rights Day, celebrated on March 15 every year, is a global event that aims to raise awareness about consumer rights and needs. Consumer rights mean that every person who buys various products, goods, and services, has the right to have information on the quality, purity, price, and standard of those products. Consumers International announce that the theme for World Consumer Rights Day 2022 is Fair Digital Finance. The global consumer advocacy movement will call for fair digital finance for consumers everywhere. The theme for World Consumer Rights Day 2022 is “Fair Digital Finance”.

National Vaccination Day - 16th March

National Vaccination Day is observed every year on March 16. The day conveys the importance of vaccination and its role in public health. On this day in 1995, the first dose of the oral polio vaccine was given in India. Vaccination or immunization is the most effective prevention method of highly infectious diseases. The theme for the year 2022 is "vaccines work for all".

Ordnance Factories Day (India) - 18th March

The Ordnance Factories’ Day is observed on the 18th of March every year. The production of India’s oldest Ordnance Factory, which is at Cossipore of Kolkata, was started on the 18th of March, 1802. The day is celebrated by displaying the rifles, guns, artillery, ammunition, etc in exhibitions all over India. Usually, the exhibitions are open to all. The celebrations start with a parade and the exhibition will also display the photographs of various mountaineering expeditions.  The theme for the year 2022 is ''Vinashaya Dushkritam''.

World Sleep Day- 18th March (Friday)

It is an annual event, intended to be a celebration of sleep and a call to action on important issues related to sleep, including medicine, education, social aspects, and driving. It is organized by the World Sleep Day Committee of the World Sleep Society (founded by WASM and WSF) and aims to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders. The theme and slogan for World Sleep Day 2022 are "Quality Sleep, Sound Mind, Happy World." 

International Day of Happiness - 20th March

It is the day celebrated on 20th March every year globally as the world recognizes the importance of happiness in our lives. First celebrated in 2013, the International Day of Happiness brings awareness to happiness as a fundamental human goal and highlights the importance of happiness and well-being as an aspiration for people all around the world. “Build Back Happier” is the theme for 2022, and is aimed at achieving global recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

World Oral Health Day- 20th March

it is observed on 20th March every year globally. World Oral Health Day was launched on 20 March 2013 by FDI World Dental Federation. The day also marks the launch of a year-long campaign to raise awareness of oral health and the prevention of oral diseases. On the 20 March every year, we ask the world to unite to help reduce the burden of oral diseases, which affect individuals, health systems, and economies everywhere. The theme for World Oral Health Day is 'Be Proud of Your Mouth for Your Happiness and Well-Being'.

World Forestry Day - 21st March

According to the official UN website, the Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests. On this day, countries are encouraged to undertake local, national, and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree-planting campaigns. The theme for 2022 is 'Forests and Sustainable Production and Consumption'.

World Down Syndrome Day- 21st March

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is marked each year on March 21, beginning in 2006. The 21st day of March (the 3rd month of the year) was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. The General Assembly decided, with effect from 2012, to observe World Down Syndrome Day on 21 March each year. The theme of World Down Syndrome Day this year is “Inclusion Means”.

World Poetry Day - 21st March

UNESCO first adopted 21 March as World Poetry Day during its 30th General Conference in Paris in 1999, with the aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increasing the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard. World Poetry Day is celebrated all over the world with poetry festivals and events, online and offline. People also post and talk about poetry and their favorite poets today. One of the goals or themes of World Poetry Day is to bring attention to the importance of poetry in the conservation of old languages, in human growth in general, and in bringing about global awareness.

Human Rights Day (South Africa) - 21st March

Human Rights Day is a national day that is commemorated annually on 21 March to remind South Africans about the sacrifices that accompanied the struggle for the attainment of democracy in South Africa. It commemorates the 1960 Sharpeville massacre, where 69 people were killed while protesting apartheid pass laws. Today the Bill of Rights is enshrined in our constitution, protecting South Africans from human rights infringements. 'The theme for this year's Human Rights Month is, 'The Year of Unity and Renewal: Protecting and Preserving our Human Rights Gains'

World Water Day -  22nd March

It celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development. “Groundwater: making the invisible visible”  proposed by IGRAC will be the theme for World Water Day 2022.

World Meteorological Day - 23rd March

World Metrology Day is an annual event during which more than 80 countries celebrate the impact of measurement on our daily lives. This date was chosen in recognition of the signing of the Metre Convention on 20 May 1875, the beginning of the formal international collaboration in metrology. For 2022, the theme is “early warning and early action.” This year's theme turns the focus on the intense weather patterns due to climate change.

World Tuberculosis Day - 24th March

Each year, we commemorate World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24 to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB, and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic. We observe World TB Day commemorate Dr. Robert Koch's announcement of his discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacillus that causes TB. The theme of World TB Day 2022 - 'Invest to End TB. Save Lives. ' –conveys the urgent need to invest resources to ramp up the fight against TB and achieve the commitments to end TB made by global leaders.

International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade - 25th March

The yearly remembrance serves not only as an opportunity to reflect on those that suffered and perished at the hands of slavery but also as an occasion to raise awareness to the world's youth about the dangers of racism and prejudice. 2022 Theme: “Stories of Courage: Resistance to Slavery and Unity against Racism”.

International Day of the Unborn Child- 25th March

Celebrated simultaneously with the Feast of the Annunciation on the 25th of March every year is the International Day of the Unborn Child. Officially, it was first celebrated in 1993 in El Salvador where the people celebrated the right to be born. This day commemorates the lost lives of those unborn children due to the horror of abortion. This was during the office of Pope John Paul II. The Pope saw this day as “a positive option in favor of life.”

Purple Day for Epilepsy - 26th March

Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. On March 26th annually, people in countries around the world are invited to wear purple and host events in support of epilepsy awareness.

World Theatre Day - 27th March

World Theatre Day (WTD) is an international observance celebrated on 27 March. It was initiated in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about the importance of theatre arts and their important role in entertainment, and to highlight how they can be used to foster peace and economic development. The theme for this day has been the same over the years, i.e., 'Theatre and a Culture of Peace.'

No Smoking Day - 2nd Week Wednesday of March

No Smoking Day is a national campaign that encourages the nation's smokers to make a quit attempt on the second Wednesday of March each year. The Member States of the World Health Organization created World No Tobacco Day in 1987 to draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and the preventable death and disease it causes. In 1987, the World Health Assembly passed Resolution WHA40. The 2022 theme for No Smoking Day is “quitting smoking doesn't have to be stressful”
