Joint Military Exercises of the Indian Army 2023
Joint military exercises allow countries to demonstrate their military prowess by training their troops and displaying weapons. It is an important aspect of international relations, where countries engage in military diplomacy to demonstrate their power. India has participated in numerous joint military exercises with countries around the world including neighboring countries. These exercises are conducted at various locations and involve various branches of the military such as the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
In addition to demonstrating strength and cohesion, joint military exercises enable military personnel to gain valuable information and learn new techniques applicable to a variety of real-world situations.
Joint Military Exercises can be classified into two types:
- Bilateral Exercises
- Multilateral Exercises
▪ Bilateral Exercises, as the name suggests, are military exercises that occur between two countries. An example of this would be the TARKASH Exercise conducted between India and USA.
▪ On the other hand, Multilateral Exercises involve the military forces of more than two countries. An example of such an exercise is the Naval Exercise Malabar, which took place in Yokosuka, Japan, and included the participation of Australia, Japan, the USA, and India.
