A top level reshuffle in the Indian Army will soon take place as the government has cleared the appointment of Lieutenant General MM Naravane as the next vice-chief of the Army staff, sources said.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Lieutenant General MM Naravane will be the next vice-chief of the Army staff
  • He will be replaced by Lt Gen Anil Chauhan, who is currently posted as Director General of military operations
  • Lieutenant General MM Naravane will take over Lt Gen D Anbu who retires on August 3\

Lt Gen Narawane
  • Lt Gen Narawane is currently heading the Eastern Command of the Army in Kolkata.
  • Lt.Gen Naravane is headed to be the senior-most officer in the force after Army chief General Bipin Rawat retires on December 30.
  • Under Lt Gen Naravane’s leadership, the Indian Army carried out joint operations with the Myanmar Army targeting insurgent groups active in the Northeast.
  • He will be replaced by Lt Gen Anil Chauhan, who is currently posted as Director General of military operations.
