January 1-Global Family Day

January 1 is Global Family Day. Global Family Day, also known as World Peace Day.  In 1997 when the United Nations General Assembly launched the International Decade for the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World — as of the first day of the new millennium.Global Family Day is celebrated as a day of peace and sharing. Global Family Day’s aim is to unite and spread a message of peace by considering and promoting the idea that Earth is one Global Family so as to make the world a better place to live for everyone.

January 1 - DRDO Day

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) celebrated 64th DRDO Day on January 01, 2022. Secretary Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Dr G Satheesh Reddy addressed the DRDO fraternity in New Delhi on January 03, 2022.

January 4-World Braille Day

World Braille Day is celebrated on Jan 4. It is celebrated to honor the birth of Braille’s inventor, Louis Braille. Braille’s gift to the world has brightened the lives of millions of people around the world who are blind or visually impaired, and they benefit from his work every day. The day also acknowledges that those with visual impairments deserve the same standard of human rights as everyone else. Braille’s marvelous aid that opened up a world of accessibility to the blind and visually impaired was recognized by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The first-ever World Braille Day was commemorated the following year and it was celebrated as an international holiday.

January 6-World Day of War Orphans

January 6 is World Day for War Orphans. Globally, millions of children are orphaned due to war, and they are subjected to a life of hardship and emotional and physical neglect. TO raise awareness about their suffering and to better their future.

As of 2015, “there were nearly 140 million orphans globally, including 61 million in Asia, 52 million in Africa, 10 million in Latin America and the Caribbean, and 7.3 million in Eastern Europe and Central Asia,” according to UNICEF.
World Day for War Orphans was created by SOS Enfants en Detresse, a French organization that works to bring a sense of normalcy to the lives of children affected indirectly by wars and conflict. It is held on January 6 annually, and every year, awareness programs take place to give people a better understanding of the plight orphaned children are forced to face. World Day for War Orphans 2022 Theme is ” Caring for children in horrific situations is a responsibility”.

January 8-African National Congress Foundation Day

January 8 is African National Congress Foundation Day. Behind this, the primary motive was to give voting rights to black and mixed-race Africans or to unite African people and spearhead the struggle for fundamental political, social, and economic change. South African Native National Congress (SANNC) was founded on 8 January 1912 by John Langalibalele Dube in Bloemfontein. Giving voting rights to black and mixed-race Africans.

January 9-NRI (Non-Resident Indian) Day or Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

January 9 is Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. It is a celebratory day by the Republic of India to mark the contribution of the overseas Indian community towards the development of India. This day also commemorates the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa to Mumbai on 9 January 1915.

January 11-Death anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri

January 11 is Death Anniversary Of Lal Bahadur Shastri. January 11 marks the death anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, one of the greatest Indian statesmen and second prime minister of the country. He was the second Prime Minister of Independent India. He popularized the slogan ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ He actively participated in India’s freedom struggle. Due to cardiac arrest, he died on 11 January 1966.

January 12-National Youth Day

January 12 is National Youth Day. The birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda also called Swami Vivekananda Jayanti is celebrated every year on 12 January. He was born on 12 January 1863. The government had decided to observe it as National Youth Day because the philosophy of Swamiji and the ideals for which he lived and worked could be a great source of inspiration for the Indian Youth.
He had given a speech at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago and glorified India’s name. National Youth Day 2022 Theme is ”helps in the unification of the country’s Youth”.

January 15-Indian Army Day

January 15 is Indian Army Day. Indian Army Day is observed on January 15 every year to recognize the day the British commander-in-chief handed over the reins of the Indian army to Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa. While India got its independence in 1947, this handover only took place in 1949.

While the ‘Indianization’ of the armed forces under the British continued well into the country’s independence, the final handover took place on January 15, 1949, and this is the day we celebrate. Indian Army Day 2022 Theme is ”Service Before Self”.

January 23-Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti

January 23 is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born on 23 January 1897 in Cuttack, Orissa. He was one of the most prominent Indian freedom fighters. Indian National Army (INA) or Azad Hind Fauj. He also led an Indian national force from abroad against the Western powers during World War II.

January 24-National Girl Child Day

January 25-National Voters Day 

January 25 is National Voters Day. Every year on 25 January National Voter’s Day or Rashtriya Metadata Diwas is celebrated to encourage young voters to take part in the political process. In 2011 Election Commission’s Foundation Day. In order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, the Government of India has decided to celebrate.

January 25 is National Tourism Day. Every year on 25 January National Tourism Day is celebrated. In India to raise awareness and educate people about the importance of tourism and the role, it plays in the Indian economy.

January 26-Republic Day 

January 26 is Republic Day. On 26 November 1949, the Indian Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution the supreme law of the land and replaced the Government of India Act 1935. It came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system. This day marks the largest parade that took place at Rajpath, Delhi every year. Republic Day is to mark the day when democracy and justice were chosen to run the nation. It is this rule of law that is missing in many countries that are run by dictators.
January 26-International Customs Day

January 26 is International Customs Day. International Customs Day (ICD) is a Custom Organisation to recognize the role of custom officials and agencies in maintaining border security. The WCO is dedicating 2022 to scaling up Customs Digital Transformation by Embracing a Data Culture and Building a Data Ecosystem. It also focuses on the working conditions and challenges that customs officers face in their jobs.

January 28-Birth Anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai

Important Days in January 2022 with themes pdf – January 28 is the Birth Anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai. Lala Lajpat Rai was born on 28 January 1865 in Punjab. Lala Lajpat Rai was a prominent nationalist leader who played an important role in India’s struggle for freedom. He also earned the title of ‘Punjab Kesari’ or ‘the Lion of the Punjab’. That he initiated the foundation of the Punjab National Bank. He died on 17 November 1928, due to serious injuries.

January 30-Martyrs Day or Shaheed Diwas

January 30 is celebrated as Martyrs Day. It is known as Martyr’s Day or Shaheed Diwas every year in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi. The sacrifice of three revolutionaries of India. The death of ‘Father of Nation’. And on 23rd March 3 heroes namely Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar of the nation were hanged to death by the British.

January 30-World Leprosy Eradication Day 

January 30 is World Leprosy Eradication Day.
