1. Google's India-born CEO Sundar Pichai and Nasdaq President Adena Friedman to get 2019 Global Leadership Award

  • Google's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sundar Pichai and Nasdaq President Adena Friedman have been picked for the coveted Global Leadership Awards 2019 by business advocacy group USIBC.
  • The duo has been recognised for their companies' contribution as the leading technology-driven platforms.
  • The Washington-based US-India Business Council (USIBC) gives this award for achievements in over 30 categories to leaders who took extra efforts in nation building while nurturing the global economy to grow. The award will be conferred upon Indian-American Pichai, 46, and Friedman, 50, during the next week's 'India Ideas Summit'.

2. Kharga Prahar  exercise concluded in Punjab

  • A week long exercise between Indian army and Indian Air Force (IAF) – Kharga Prahar  concluded in Punjab.
  • The exercise was under taken by various units and formation of kharga corps. The key aspects of this exercise is to validate operational aspects and brought out many lessons to the corps.
  • The exercise was successful in validating latest operational concepts which are designed to deliver a swift punitive blow to India’s adversary.

  • She won the State and National Awards for the Second Best Female Actor for Akale.

5. ICICI Bank launches center in Bengaluru exclusive for MSME

  • ICICI bank launched a center in Bengaluru to provide hazel free services to small business owners and startups. Sandeep Batra, Executive Director, ICICI Bank along with Mr. Viral Rupani, Retail Business Head – South, ICICI Bank inaugurated the center.
  • The center provides various services which include working capital loans of up to Rs. 20 crore, business loans (based on GST returns) of up to Rs. 1 crore, instant overdraft facility of up to Rs. 15 lakh, extensive trade solutions and cash management services and others.
  • The center also provide legal and valuation desk to help customers in resolving challenges related to collateral for various loans.

6. Lt Gen PJS Pannu designated as Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence staff (operation)

  • On June 5,2019 , The Defence Ministry, Government of India appointed Lt Gen PJS Pannu as Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence staff (Doctrine organisation and training) after Air Marshal Rajeev Sachdeva with effect from June 1.
  • He is an alumnus of Indian Military Academy and was commissioned into 22nd Battalion, The Maratha Light Infantry (MLI) on December,1980 and commanded the battalion from may 1999 to February during operation ‘VIJAY’.
  • He also held prestigious appointments in army force such as General staff officer grade1, Director in Military operation directorate, colonel military secretary and Deputy military assistant to chief of army staff.He is also served in UN mission in Mozambique and sudan.He was awarded the Param Vishist Seva medal in 2018 and Arti Vishist seva medal in 2014.

7. Actor and Padma Shri awardee Dinyar Contractor passed away aged 79 in Mumbai, Maharashtra

  • Actor and Padma Shri awardee(2019) Dinyar Contractor passed away aged 79 in Mumbai, Maharashtra due to age-related illnesses. He was best known for his comic roles.
  • He had appeared in the films like Baadshah, Khiladi, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Daraar and 36 China Town.He had been a part of shows like Khichdi, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Hum Sab Ek Hain, Do Aur Do Paanch, Dil Vil and Karishma.The theatre artist had begun his professional career in 1966.
  • He had played in Gujarati as well as Hindi plays. He started working on television programs when Mumbai Doordarshan launched their DD-2 channel in Mumbai with a Gujarati show titled “Aao Marvao Meri Saathe” and other shows like “Adi Marzban”.
