31 July – Shaheed Udham Singh Martyrdom Day
Born: 26 December 1899 at Sunam, Sangrur district, Punjab.
He was brought up at the Central Khalsa Orphanage, Amritsar after losing both parents.
He witnessed the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre (13 April 1919), which inspired him to seek revenge.On 13 March 1940, he assassinated Michael O'Dwyer at Caxton Hall, London, avenging the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
