1. Jaipur's cricket stadium Renamed as Anil Agarwal International Cricket Stadium
  • Vedanta's Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) signed an MoU with the Rajasthan Cricket Association for the development of the world's third-largest cricket stadium in the village of Chonp in Jaipur,Rajasthan. Vedanta's HZL will spend INR 300 crore on the stadium, one of the largest corporate investments in Indias sports infrastructure. The stadium would be named as Anil Agarwal International Cricket Stadium, Jaipur.
  • It is the biggest cricket playing field in the world, is one of the world's biggest Cricket stadiums with a seating capacity of 75,000. (2nd largest in India and 3rd largest in the world), spread over 100 acres (4,04,685 sqm) biggest playing area and is well connected via Delhi-Jaipur Express Highway.

2. Srinagar-Leh’s Z-Morh tunnel to be inaugurated in April
  • The crucial Z-Morh tunnel that connects Gagangir and Sonamarg on the Srinagar-Leh highway will be inaugurated in April 2023 according to Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.
  • Zoji-Morh tunnel is an under-construction tunnel located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a 6.5 km long tunnel between Gagangir and Sonamarg on the Srinagar-Leh highway.The tunnel is being constructed at an altitude of 11,578 feet and will provide all-weather connectivity to the Kashmir Valley.The project is being implemented by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
3. International Transgender Day of Visibility 2023 observed on 31st March
  • Transgender Day of Visibility is an international event on March 31 dedicated to recognizing the resilience and accomplishments of the transgender community. On this day, we celebrate the transgender population amongst us, raise awareness about the struggles that they face, and advocate for more protected rights for them in a bid to reform society and empower this community — as it so rightfully deserves. 4. For the first time in the country, the decision on bail in the case of 'murder' with the help of ChatGPT
  • For the first time in the country, the Punjab and Haryana High Court used Artificial Intelligence based ChatGPT (ChatGPT) during the hearing of the bail plea in the murder case on March 27.
  • Justice Anoop Chitkara used ChatGPT to assess the worldwide outlook on bail in a murder case.He asked AI tool ChatGPT 'What is the jurisprudence on bail when the assailants brutally attack?' ChatGPT then offered a comprehensive three-paragraph reply on bail jurisprudence in such cases.Thereafter, the court refused the bail and dismissed the petition.
5. Hero MotoCorp appoints Niranjan Gupta as CEO
  • Hero MotoCorp has announced the appointment of Niranjan Gupta as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. He will take charge of his new responsibilities from May 1, 2023.
  • Prior to his appointment as CEO, Gupta served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Head-Strategy and M&A at Hero MotoCorp. He played a crucial role in forging partnerships with Harley Davidson and Zero Motorcycles and has over 25 years of experience in finance, mergers & acquisitions, supply chain and strategy roles across various sectors.

6. Star Sports ropes in Ranveer Singh as brand ambassador
  • The Indian sports broadcasting giant, Star Sports has announced the prolific Indian actor, Ranveer Singh, as its brand ambassador ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
  • Following the association, the 37-year-old Bollywood actor will be seen making creative content, which makes the narratives from the past, present, and future of the league more interesting and interactive. On the partnership, the channel said that this bond is one of the chunks of the missions, making India a successful sporting country by propelling the popularity and passion for the sports.
7. World Bank approves $363 million loan for clean drinking water in rural Karnataka
  • The World Bank has given a $363 million loan to the state of Karnataka in India, which will help provide clean drinking water to two million rural households.
  • It aims to establish piped water connections to households across the state, including construction of drinking water distribution networks and installation of water metres, and the initiative is expected to benefit around 10 million people in all 31 districts of the state.The loan is part of the Karnataka Sustainable Rural Water Supply programme, which aims to improve the operational efficiency of rural water supply services.

8. Tata Power re-appoints Praveer Sinha as CEO, MD
  • Tata Power has re-appointed Praveer Sinha as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director.His re-appointment to the top post is for a period of four years from May 1, 2023, to April 30, 2027, subject to the approval of the members of the company, Tata Power said in a regulatory filing.
9. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty win Swiss Open doubles title
  • The World Championships bronze medallist doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty on Sunday won the Swiss Open title, beating China's Ren Xiang Yu and Tan Qiang in straight games in the summit clash of the Super 300 badminton tournament in Basel.
  • The second-seeded Indian pair capped off their impressive campaign by registering a 21-19, 24-22 win against the World No.21 Chinese pair in a contest which lasted 54 minutes. Satwik and Chirag played an attacking game while remaining solid in defence.
10. Shakib Al Hasan surpasses Southee to become leading T20I wicket-taker
  • Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan became the leading wicket-taker in T20I cricket during his match-winning 5/22 in the second T20I against Ireland in Chattogram on Wednesday, March 29. He claimed figures of 5-22 from his 4 overs to go past New Zealand's Tim Southee to become the bowler with the most T20I wickets.
  • Shakib's total tally reached 136 wickets in T20I, two more than Southee's 134, at an average of 20.67 with an economy rate of 6.8. Besides, he also has 2339 runs at a strike-rate of 122.33. The 36-year-old reached the landmark after trapping George Dockrell leg-before off the third ball of the sixth over. When he castled Harry Tector three balls later, Shakib reached his second career five-for in this format.
