1.France aims to have 30,000 Indian students in its universities by 2030
- Indian students willing to go to France for higher studies
sometimes face visa related issues. This may no longer be the case as France is willing to welcome the students, said Thierry Mathou, the Ambassador of France to India.
- Mathou said that President Emmanuel Macron has conveyed that France is willing to welcome 30,000 Indian students within its higher institutions by 2030.
2.Nyishi cloth of Arunachal Pradesh state got GI tag
- An application seeking Geographical Indication (GI) tag for the
Arunachal Pradesh Apatani textile product has been filed by a firm, Zeet Zeero Producer Company Limited. The Apatani weave comes from the Apatani tribe of Arunachal Pradesh living at Ziro, the headquarters of lower Subansiri district. The woven fabric of this tribe is known for its geometric and zigzag patterns and also for its angular designs.
- According to the application filed with the Geographical Indications registry in Chennai, the Apatani community weaves its own textiles for various occasions, including rituals and cultural festivals. The tribe predominantly weaves shawls known as jig-jiro and jilan or jackets called supuntarii.

3.Tamil Nadu state was Thaipusam festival celebrated
- Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil
community. The colorful celebration is one of the important fairs and festivals in not just India but also countries like Malaysia, USA, Sri Lanka, Thailand and other countries where Tamil Community has major presence.
- Thaipusam is celebrated each year on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai which falls in the month of January/February of the English Calendar. The word Pusam, refers to a star that is at its highest position during the festival.

4.West Bengal is on top in the finance report to Panchayati Raj Institutions for 2022-23 released by RBI
- With the finances of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) facing
constraints due to their limited own revenues, a Reserve Bank of India report on Thursday said the PRIs need to intensify efforts to augment their own tax and non-tax revenue resources and improve governance.
- The report noted that around 95% of the PRI revenues are in the form of grants from the Centre and states, restricting their spending ability that is already hampered by delays in the constitution of State Finance Commissions (SFCs).

5.Uttar Pradesh tableau has been given the award for the best tableau on Republic day
- The tableau of Uttar Pradesh has been picked as the best
tableau among the 12 States/UTs which participated in the Republic Day parade on January 26, 2022. The theme of the tableau of Uttar Pradesh was ‘One District One Product and Kashi Vishwanath Dham’. A total of 12 states and union territories had participated in the Republic Day parade on January 26.
- The popular choice category award was introduced for the first time in 2022, wherein the general public was invited to vote for the best marching contingents and best tableaux through the MyGov platform. The online poll was conducted between January 25-31, 2022.

6.World Bank has released the Global Economic Prospects Report
- Global growth is slowing sharply in the face of elevated
inflation, higher interest rates, reduced investment, and disruptions caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to the World Bank’s latest Global Economic Prospects report.
- Given fragile economic conditions, any new adverse development—such as higher-than-expected inflation, abrupt rises in interest rates to contain it, a resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic, or escalating geopolitical tensions—could push the global economy into recession.

7.ISRO has developed DAT-SG second generation disaster warning transmitter for fishermen

8. Former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur to be awarded Bharat Ratna posthumously
- Rashtrapati Bhavan announced in its communique that
prominent socialist leader and former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur will be posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna.He will be the 49th recipient and 15th to be accorded posthumously.
- The announcement of conferring India’s highest civilian award on Karpoori Thakur has been made a day before his 100th birth anniversary. He was born on 24 January 1924 and died on February 17, 1988. Thakur was jailed during the Quit India Movement against British rule.

9. SJVN inks pact to provide technical consultancy services to NHAI
- State-owned power producer SJVN has signed an agreement
with NHAI to provide technical consultancy services for highway projects. It a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
- The primary focus of this MoU is to utilise the expertise of SJVN in Technical Consultancy Services.This consultancy service will be initially provided for a period of 24 months by SJVN to NHAI.
10.Nikita Kumari of Rajasthan wins the Khelo India Youth Games gold in discus throw
- In the Khelo India youth games, Nikita Kumari of Rajasthan
won the gold in the discus throw event.She was followed by Riddhi from Haryana winning the silver while Bhakti Gawade from Maharashtra won the bronze.
- In the triple jump match Paveena Rajesh from Tamil Nadu won the gold followed by Pamela Var shini.G. from Tamil Nadu winning silver and P.V.Abirami from Kerala taking the bronze medal. In the 800m girls athletics, M.An Silin and Aksilin from Tamil Nadu won the gold and silver medals while Priyanka Olkar from Karnataka won the bronze.
