1. Punjab ranks 2nd in average monthly income per agricultural household
- Punjab ranks second in the country in average monthly income per
agricultural household. This fact came to light in a data provided by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar in the ongoing session of Rajya Sabha.
- The minister was replying to a question by Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha member Sanjeev Arora.As per information, Meghalaya tops across the country with average monthly income per agricultural household (Rs 29,348).

2. Indian Bank launches ‘MSME Prerana’ in the state of Rajasthan
- Indian Bank, one of the leading public sector banks in the country,
has launched its flagship business mentoring program for MSME entrepreneurs – ‘MSME Prerana’ – in the state of Rajasthan.
- Indian Bank’s unique program, “MSME Prerana”, is a first-of-its-kind initiative for MSME Sector in the country by any bank. It aims at empowering MSME Entrepreneurs through skill development and capacity-building training in their local languages, assisting them in acquiring necessary financial and managerial skills, capacity to handle crises in business and understanding of dynamics of credit rating and risk management.

3. Kerala's Dharmadam becomes first complete library constituency in India
- Dharmadam, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's constituency
has achieved the position of complete library constituency in India, the first in India.
- In his Facebook post, Vijayan said that out of the total 138 wards in the constituency, there were no libraries in 63 wards. Dharmadam reached the achievement with the opening of libraries in these wards too.

4. E-sports gets recognition from the Indian government as part of multisports events
- The Indian government has officially recognized esports in the
country. Esports will now be a part of the “multisports event” category in India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports and a section related to “matters relating to online gaming” is added under MeitY as well.
- The Indian government has officially recognised esports. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has now added Esports in the “multisports event” category in India. Esports has also been added to the “matters relating to online gaming” section under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
5. Lieutenant General Arvind Walia appointed as next Engineer-in-Chief of Indian Army
- Lieutenant General Arvind Walia has been appointed as the next
Engineer-in-Chief of the Indian Army. Indian Army officials confirmed that he will be succeeding Lt Gen Harpal Singh as he is retiring on December 31. In August 2021, Lt Gen Arvind Walia was appointed as Chief of Staff at Headquarters Southern Command, Pune.
- Lt Gen Harpal Singh assumed the appointment of Engineer-in-Chief and Colonel Comdt of the Corps of Engineers on 1 December 2020 and has held the posts for two years.
6. According to RBI Data, Frauds fall nearly 50% at banks
- Instances of financial frauds is falling in the banking system as
institutions have become more aware of the cyber threats, said the RBI report. According to data shared by the regulator, the quantum of frauds fell 46% to Rs 19,485 crore between April to September 2022. Frauds reported were at Rs 36,316 crore during the same period a year ago.
- “Based on the date of occurrence of frauds, advances-related frauds formed the biggest category prior to 2019-2020,” the RBI . “In terms of number of frauds, the modus operandi shifted to card or internet based transactions. Additionally, cash frauds are also on the rise.”

7. Financial literacy poor across urban, rural population: RBI survey
- A general perception is that most of the rural population is not well
versed with digital banking in India.
- However, in what can be termed as a revelation, according to a pan-India "Financial Literacy and Inclusion survey" conducted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), digital banking awareness and knowledge among rural and urban population across the country is at par with each other, with the average being 11.7 for both segments on a score of 21.

8. Baskar Babu Re-Appointed as Suryoday Bank’s Chief for 3 Year
- The Reserve Bank of India has approved the re-appointment of
Baskar Babu Ramachandran as the MD & CEO of Suryoday Small Finance Bank for three years effective January 23, 2023.
- The Bank initimated the stock exchanges regarding the developments.Babu, the founder and MD & CEO of Suryoday SFB, sold bank’s 50 lakh shares on December 16 for 55.44 crore to close a loan for exercising warrants to maintain the promoter’s stake at the minimum of 26 per cent for the first 5 years (up to January 22, 2022) as per RBI regulations.
9. Nikhat Zareen & Lovlina Borgohain win gold medals at the Elite National Women’s Boxing Championships
- Telangana Boxing star and the reigning world champion, Nikhat
Zareen, and Lovlina Borgohain, the bronze medalist from the Tokyo Olympics, both won gold medals in their separate finals in the Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships.
- The Railway Sports Promotion Board won the team trophy with ten awards in the 6th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships in Bhopal.
10. A book titled “Forks in the Road: My Days at RBI and Beyond” by C. Rangarajan
- C Rangarajan authored a book titled “Forks in the Road: My Days
at RBI and Beyond”. It was published by the Penguin Business (Penguin Group). The book is the memoir of Dr C. Rangarajan, an Indian economist, a former Member of Parliament, and the 19th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). It discusses India’s transition from its post-independence planning era to the present times. The book is divided into 3 parts. Part 1- ‘RBI and Planning Commission’, Part 2-‘Governor of RBI’ and Part 3- ‘Beyond RBI’.
