1. United Nations Day is celebrated on 24th October 2022
- United Nations Day is celebrated on October 24 every year. It
marks the official establishment of the United Nations in 1945.
- On this day, the UN Charter was ratified by the majority of signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, and this led to the official establishment of UN. The Day was first celebrated in 1948. The UN, in 1971, also recommended the member states to observe it as a public holiday.

2. Ayodhya Sets Guinness Record by Lighting 15 Lakh Diyas On 'Deepotsav'
- A new Guinness World Record for the 'largest display of oil lamps'
was set when more than 15.76 lakh earthen lamps were lit at the 'Ram ki Paidi' during the Yogi government's Deepotsav celebrations in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya on the eve of Diwali.
- The record was created in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Thousands of devotees, general public, dignitaries witnessed this historic event.The teachers and students of Awadh University, Ayodhya contributed largely to creating the record. Over 15.76 lakh earthen lamps were lit one by one with the chanting of 'Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram' as soon as the PM launched the festival.

3.Arunachal Pradesh bags 3 Awards for excellence in PMAY-U implementation
- Arunachal Pradesh has bagged three awards for its excellence in
taking ‘the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban ( PMAY-U ) to the target groups in a wholesome ‘manner.
- The honours include: best award for conducting Information Education & Communication (IEC) ‘programme under PMAY-U, award for exemplary performance in implementation of PMAY-U, and Tawang district secured second position among the best performing Nagar Panchayats in the ‘North Eastern and Hilly States.

4. Amit Shah inaugurates ‘Gatha Swaraj Ki’ gallery at Scindia Museum, Gwalior
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a gallery-cum-
exhibition depicting the history of prominent Maratha commanders at the sprawling Jai Vilas Mahal of Scindia, the then ruler of Gwalior. Shah Rajmata Vijayaraje was in Gwalior to lay the foundation stone for the terminal building and expansion of the Scindia airport.
- He was welcomed in the palace as per Maratha traditions. Shah visited the museum in the palace and inaugurated the ‘Gatha Swaraj Ki-Maratha Gallery’ depicting the history of the main Maratha rulers including Scindia, Gaekwad, Holkar, Newalkar, Bhosale and Pawar.
5. Chinese President Xi creates history by winning record third term in power
- China's Communist Party formally reelected Xi Jinping the party's
general secretary for another five years, paving the way for his historic third term as Chinese president.
- The widely expected announcement comes after a week-long Communist Party Congress during which Xi further cemented his grip on power.Party faithful endorsed his "core" position in leadership, and approved changes to the constitution making Xi's political vision central for China's future.

6. World Development Information Day observed on 24 October
- World Development Information Day is celebrated annually on
October 24th. The day focuses on improving the dissemination of information and mobilizing public opinion, especially among young people.
- The primary goal for improving the dissemination of information and mobilizing public opinion is to create awareness for problems of development. Once the world brings its attention to the issues of development, countries around the world are better equipped to solve such problems.
7. Ashwini K.P. becomes the first Indian to be appointed Independent Expert on racism
- The United Nations Human Rights Council appointed the first Asian
and first Indian as an independent experts on racism and related intolerance. Three names, including that of Ashwini, were doing rounds for the post.
- Dr Ashwini’s appointment has been officially made at the UNHRC’s session which concluded in Geneva on October 7. Dr Ashwini will take over the UNHCR special rapporteur in Geneva on November 1 for a period of six years. She is the first Asian as well as the first Indian to be appointed for the post.

8. Rishi Sunak declares candidature for UK PM, leads with backing of over 131 MPs
- Infosys founder N R Narayana Murthy’s son-in-law Rishi Sunak
officially threw his hat into the ring on Diwali-eve to be in the race to succeed Liz Truss as leader of the Conservative party and the next UK prime minister.
- Sunak so far had 131 to 153 MPs backing him while Truss’ predecessor Boris Johnson 56 to 76 and Penny Mordaunt 22 to 28 MPs. Only candidates with 100 or more MPs’ nominations will make it through to the first ballot. The deadline ends at 18.30 IST on Monday. If Sunak is the only one who passes the threshold, he will automatically become the UK prime minister on Diwali.

9. In T20, India Won by 4 Wickets Against Pakistan
- India won by 4 wickets against Pakistan. India won the toss and
opted to bowl first. Pakistan openers were Rizwan and Babar Azam. Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed scored the highest runs from Pakistan, 52(42) and 41(34) respectively.
- Arshdeep and Hardik Pandya shined their way through in the IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2022. Both of them took 3 wickets each against Pakistan. Pakistan made 159 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets.
10. IRS officer Sahil Seth launches his book ‘A confused mind story’
- IRS Joint Commissioner GST, Custom & Narcotics and youth
influencer Sahil Seth launched his book titled ‘A confused Mind story’, which is based on the contrast between the spiritual and material world.
- ‘A confused Mind story’ book highlights the answers behind the confusion of the common man in day-to-day life and explains the rationale behind the meaning of life and belief system. The book was launched and the first look was Unveiled in the presence of Union Health Minister Sh Mansukh L Mandaviya.
