1. Crisil lowers GDP growth estimate to 7.3% for FY23
  • The domestic rating agency Crisil revised its real GDP growth forecast for India to 7.3%, from 7.8%, for FY23.This can be attributed to the higher oil prices, slowing of export demand and high inflationary pressures.
  • Factors contributing to the broad-based rise in inflation will include the impact of this year's heatwave on domestic food production, coupled with persisting high international commodity prices and input costs.

2. Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurates launches ’53 Hours Challenge’ for ‘75 Creative Minds’
  • Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Singh Thakur has inaugurated ’53 Hours Challenge’ for ‘75 Creative Minds Tomorrow’. This is the second edition of 75 Creative Minds and we have already made a community of 150 strong individuals connected through their shared love for cinema, creativity and culture.
  • The competition will challenge the winners of ’75 Creative Minds for Tomorrow’ to produce a short film on their idea of India@100, all in 53 hours. This is powered by National Film Development Corporation (NDFC).
3. UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurates the UNESCO-India-Africa Hackathon 2022
  • UNESCO India Africa Hackathon was inaugurated at Gautam Buddha University with a grand opening ceremony.
  • The program extensively focused upon promoting engagement and collaboration of the student communities in India with the communities of African nations to develop ingenious and out-of-the-box strategies to tackle the problems faced by mankind.

4. Russia Replaces China to Become the Biggest Supplier of Fertilizers to India
  • Russia has become India's biggest fertilizer supplier for the first time, citing a government official who said Russian exporters offered reasonable prices. Russian exporters reportedly grabbed a 21% share of the Indian fertilizer market in the first half of the 2022/23 fiscal year, overtaking China, previously India's largest supplier.
  • Russian exports reportedly surged 371%, to a record 2.15 million tons from April to October. In monetary terms, India's imports over this period increased by 765%, to $1.6 billion.

5. Tamil Nadu, Anamalai Tiger Reserve launched ‘jumbo trails’ in Coimbatore
  • The Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) has launched ‘jumbo trails’, a programme aimed to educate visitors to the tiger reserve about elephants, the flora, and fauna of ATR and the aboriginal tribes who live in the hills.
  • An initiative by ATR Field Director S. Ramasubramanian and Deputy Director (Pollachi Division) Bhargava Teja, the first jumbo trail will happen on November 26.The biologist and other resource persons from the Forest Department will explain the exhibits at the interpretation centre and provide the registered participants with an overall view of ATR.

6. India, China Leads as Global Intellectual Property Filings Reached New Records in 2021
  • A record number of international patents were filed last year, indicating that innovation had not been stymied by the pandemic, the United Nations.
  • Even as Covid-19 took a vast human and economic toll, international patent applications continued to grow, with Asia, and China in particular, cementing their leading positions. A record 277,500 international patents were filed in 2021, marking a 0.9-percent increase from 2020, the UN's World Intellectual Property Organisation said in its annual overview.

7. OECD Cuts India Growth Rate Forecast to 6.6 % in 2022
  • The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), cut its gross domestic growth forecast for India for the current financial year (FY23) to 6.6 per cent from 6.9 per cent, citing higher medium-term global uncertainty and slowing domestic economic activity.
  • The World Bank cut its 2022-23 (FY23) real gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for India to 6.5%, from an earlier estimate of 7.5%, while warning that spillovers from Russia's invasion of Ukraine and global monetary tightening will weigh on the economic outlook.
8. Sebastian Vettel to retire from Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 season
  • Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has announced he will retire from Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 season. After making his debut in 2007, Vettel went on to win four consecutive world championships for Red Bull between 2010 and 2013, the first of which made him the sport's youngest title winner.
  • The 35-year-old German, who spent six seasons with Ferrari after joining the Italian team in 2015, will see out the remainder of his final campaign with Aston Martin.
9. Google honours American geologist Marie Tharp with interactive doodle on her life
  • Google is paying tribute to American geologist and oceanographic cartographer, Marie Tharp, who helped prove the theories of continental drift.
  • She co-published the first world map of ocean floors. On November 21 in 1998, the Library of Congress named Ms. Tharp one of the greatest cartographers of the 20th century. The Google Doodle  features an interactive biography of Ms. Tharp.

10. Novak Djokovic matches Roger Federer’s record with 6th ATP Finals title
  • Novak Djokovic claimed a record-equaling sixth ATP Finals title by beating the third-seeded Casper Ruud on to top a fantastic finish to the season for the Serb.
  • Djokovic won 7-5, 6-3 to secure his first title at the event since 2015 and match Roger Federer’s record.The 35-year-old Djokovic, who had lost his two previous finals at the event, raised his arms out and smiled broadly after sealing the match with an ace.
