1. Frank Torres Appointed As President Of Nissan India
  • Senior executive of Nissan, Frank Torres has been appointed as the President of Nissan India with effect from 1st April 2022.
  • He succeeded Sinan Özkök.
  • He has also been appointed as the Region Divisional Vice President for Business Transformation in AMIEO region (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania).
  • He joined Nissan in 2007 in Spain as a Production Engineering Analyst, before becoming Managing Director for Nissan Motor Iberica (NMISA) in 2011.

2. Global Recycling Day 2022: 18 March
  • The Global Recycling Day is observed every year on 18th of  March to recognise the importance of recycling as a resource, not waste.
  • Theme for 2022 is “recycling fraternity”.
  • The theme recognise the people who put themselves on the frontline to collect waste and recycling during the multiple lockdowns.
  • The Global Recycling Day was created in 2018 by the London-based Global Recycling Foundation to promote the concept and practice of recycling.
3. Poland’s Karolina Bielawska crowned 2021 Miss World
  • Karolina Bielawska from Poland has won the title of Miss World 2021 . She was crowned by 2019 Miss World Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica.
  • The 70th edition of the Miss World international beauty pageant was held on March 16, 2022 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
  • First Runner-up – Indian-American Shree Saini from the United States
  • Second Runner-up – Olivia Yace from Cote d’Ivoire 
  • India’s representative – India was represented by Manasa Varanasi, the winner of Femina Miss India 2020. She made it to the top 13 but could not get selected in the Top 6 winners list.

4. Elon Musk Tops Hurun Global Rich List 2022 and Ambani Ranks 9th Richest
  • SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk has bagged the top position on the 2022 M3M Hurun Global Rich List, with total net worth of $205 billion.  
  • The 2022 M3M Hurun Global Rich List is published by research and luxury publishing group Hurun India in association with realty firm M3M.
  • From India, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani was the only Indian to feature in the top 10 list of  2022 Hurun Global Rich List’ to emerge as India’s as well as Asia’s richest man. Ambani occupied the ninth rank globally with a net worth of $103 billion.
5. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurates FCS Integration complex in Bengaluru, constructed by DRDO using in-house hybrid technology, in record 45 days
  • Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated a seven-storeyed Flight Control System (FCS) Integration facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka on March 17, 2022. 
  • The facility is housed at Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), a laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
  • FCS facility is a state-of-the-art complex constructed by DRDO in record 45 days, using in-house hybrid technology. This hybrid technology has been developed by DRDO with support of Larsen & Toubro (L&T). 
  • The FCS facility will support Research & Development (R&D) activities for developing Avionics for Fighter Aircraft and FCS for Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft.

6. DCI and Cochin Shipyard joins hand to build country’s first indigenous dredger
  • The Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) have inked an agreement to build the first indigenous dredger of the country.
  • The agreement was signed on March 17, 2022, and the project is estimated to be completed within 34 months, at a cost of around Rs 920 crore.
  • The technical know-how, basic designs, dredging system components of the Project shall be provided by Holland-based Royal IHC, the market leader for designing, building and servicing high added-value dredging vessels and dredging equipment.

7. Mahatma Gandhi Green Triangle inaugurated in Madagascar
  • As part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebration, a “Green Triangle” named after Mahatma Gandhi, was inaugurated in Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar, on March 16, 2022.
  • The Mahatma Gandhi Green Triangle was jointly inaugurated by India’s Ambassador to Madagascar Abhay Kumar and Mayor of Antananarivo, Naina Andriantsitohaina.
8. Moody’s lowers India’s GDP forecast for CY22 to 9.1% amid Russia-Ukraine conflict
  • Rating agency Moody’s has revised downwards the economic growth forecast of India by 40 basis points to 9.1 percent in the Calendar Year 2022 (CY2022), due to adverse effects of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on the global economy..
  • Earlier in February 2022, Moody’s estimated India’s GDP in CY2022 to 9.5 percent 
  • Moody’s has projected India’s GDP growth forecast for the Calendar Year (CY) 2023 at 5.4 percent.

9. Axis Bank bags IFR Asia 2021 Asian Bank of the Year Award
  • India’s third-largest private sector bank, Axis Bank, has won the IFR Asia’s Asian Bank of The Year 2021.
