1. Government appoints Sibi George as India’s next ambassador to Japan
- The Ministry of External Affairs has appointed Senior diplomat, Sibi George as
the next Indian ambassador to Japan.
- He will replace Sanjay Kumar Verma as India’s envoy to Japan, has recently appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Canada.
- He is a 1993-batch Indian Foreign Service officer and is currently serving as the Ambassador of India to Kuwait.
- India and Japan share very strong Strategic and Global Partnership.

2. National Hindi Diwas 2022: 14th September
- To promote the Hindi language and its usage across the nation, India observed
Hindi Diwas annually on September 14.
- The day is also marks the birthday anniversary (September 14, 1916) of Beohar Rajendra Simha who played a crucial role in getting Hindi in Devanagari script.
- On September 14, 1949, the Constituent Assembly accepted Hindi in the Devanagari script as the official language of India.
- The first Hindi Day was celebrated on September 14, 1953.
3. Sanjay Khanna appointed as CEO of American Express India
- American Express Banking Corp has appointed Sanjay Khanna as the chief
executive officer and country manager for India.
- Responsibilities: For increasing growth across the organization’s consumer and commercial businesses.
- Prior to this role, Khanna has held many leadership positions in the company including head of global financial operations, India centre lead for finance and chairman of the American Express India Pvt Ltd (AEIPL) legal entity board.
4. MeitY Startup Hub joins hands with Meta to support XR technology startups
- Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Startup Hub has
collaborated with Meta to launch a programme to support and accelerate XR technology startups across India.
- The programme was launched by the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
- The MeitY Startup Hub is a national platform that focuses on promoting technology innovation, start-ups, and the creation of intellectual properties.

5. HDFC Bank issues first Electronic Bank Guarantee of India
- HDFC Bank has become the first bank in India to issue an Electronic Bank
Guarantee (e-BG) in partnership with National E-Governance Services Limited (NeSL).
- The new e-BG will eliminate the paper based and time-consuming process.
- It can be processed, stamped, verified and delivered instantly with enhanced security.
- HDFC Bank will migrate to eBG platform completely in order to expedite the issuance of BGs for customers.

6. Axis Bank, Square Yards launch co-branded home buyer ecosystem

7. Retail inflation surges up to 7% in August 2022
- According to the new data, the Retail inflation has been increased up to 7% in
August 2022 from 6.71% in July 2022.
- Reason: Due to higher food prices
- The consumer price index (CPI)-based inflation is above the Reserve Bank’s decided level of 6% for the eighth month in a row.
- The inflation in food basket was 7.62% in August 2022, was up from 6.69% in July and 3.11% in August 2021.
- RBI has maintained its inflation forecast for 2022-23 at 6.7%.
8. AN Shamseer elected as Kerala Assembly Speaker
- The Kerala Assembly has elected CPM's Thalassery MLA AN Shamseer as the
24th Speaker of the Kerala Legistlature.
- He defeated UDF MLA Anwar Sadath by 56 votes in the election.
- UDF candidate and Aluva MLA Anwar Sadath secured 40 votes against the LDF nominee who received 96 votes.
- Deputy Speaker Chittayam Gopakumar headed the election procedures.
- The speaker post was vacant after MB Rajesh, who became Minister of excise and Local Self Government departments.

- The Centre appoints Chief Justice of Madras High Court, Justice Munishwar
Nath Bhandari as the Chairman of the Appellate Tribunal under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act
- The post of the Chairperson of the Tribunal was vacant since September 2019.
- The order was issued by the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance.
- The Tribunal for Forfeiture of Property under the SAFEMA and the PMLA Appellate Tribunal were merged in 2016 through the Finance Act, 2016.
