3. Maharashtra Approves Compressed Biogas Policy 2026

Financial Incentives & Outlay: The government has earmarked ₹500 crore for the 2026–27 fiscal year. It offers Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of up to ₹75 lakh per tonne of capacity (capped at ₹15 crore per project) and a 2.5% SGST reimbursement to ensure commercial sustainability.

Innovative Implementation Models: For the first time, CBG projects will be executed using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). This helps de-risk investments for private players and encourages the development of cluster-based projects in every district.
