1. Sat Pal Bhanoo appointed as Interim CEO & MD of LIC
Sat Pal Bhanoo has been appointed as the interim Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), following the end of Siddhartha Mohanty’s term, effective June 8, 2025. The Government, via the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, formally entrusted him with full financial and administrative powers for up to three months, until September 7, 2025, or until a permanent successor is appointed.

2. Tamil Nadu Declares Dhanushkodi as Greater Flamingo Sanctuary
Tamil Nadu has officially declared the Dhanushkodi lagoon as the Greater Flamingo Sanctuary, encompassing roughly 524.7 hectares of both forest and revenue land in Ramanathapuram district, marking the protection on World Environment Day, June 5, 2025 . Situated within the ecologically sensitive Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve, this area features a mosaic of habitats—including sand dunes, mudflats, marshes, and mangroves—that serve as vital resting and feeding grounds for migratory birds along the Central Asian Flyway . A recent wetland bird census recorded 10,761 individual birds across 128 species, among them both greater and lesser flamingos.

3. India Pavilion Among Top 5 at World Expo 2025 in Osaka
The India Pavilion, named Bharat Mandap, has been ranked among the top five most admired pavilions at World Expo 2025 in Osaka, standing alongside those of the USA, Italy, France, and host nation Japan. Curated by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts under the Ministry of Culture, it offers a seamless blend of India’s ancient civilizational heritage—such as the Bodhisattva Padmapani and blue‑lotus motifs—and modern themes like sustainability, Ayurveda, and space exploration. 4. Sailesh C. Mehta appointed as Chairman of  Fertiliser Association of India
Sailesh C. Mehta has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI), succeeding N. Suresh Krishnan. Mehta, who currently serves as the Managing Director of Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd., brings over four decades of experience in the fertiliser and chemical industry to this role. He has previously served as the Chairman of FAI's Western Region for more than five years. In his new capacity, Mehta aims to act as a bridge between the government, industry, and farmers, focusing on elevating Indian agriculture and farm productivity on the global stage. He emphasizes the importance of balanced and nutrient-efficient fertilisers to support sustainable growth in India's agricultural sector.

5. Portugal Crowned Nations League Champions After Dramatic Penalty Shootout Win
