1. Dinesh Sharma Appointed Andaman & Nicobar Lieutenant Governor

Dinesh Sharma has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by President Droupadi Murmu.

He will succeed Admiral D. K. Joshi (Retd.), who served as the LG since 2017.

Dinesh Sharma previously served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Mayor of Lucknow.
2. Vice President Launches India Valve Registry in Chennai

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan launched the India Valve Registry in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The registry will collect systematic data on transcatheter valve interventions across India.

It aims to generate India-specific evidence on valvular and structural heart diseases.

The campaign focuses on rainwater harvesting and water conservation through community participation.

Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 3.0 is an initiative of the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
4. 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah to be Launched in Varanasi

The 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 will be launched on 9 September 2026 at Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

The theme of Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 is “Hamari Anganwadi Hamari Jimmedari” (Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility).

The campaign will be launched by Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi and is organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development under the Poshan Abhiyaan.
5. LIC Gets RBI Approval to Acquire Up to 9.99% Stake in ICICI Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to acquire up to 9.99% stake in ICICI Bank.

The approval allows LIC to acquire up to 9.99% of ICICI Bank’s paid-up share capital or voting rights.

The approval is valid for one year from the date of the RBI’s approval.
6. Piyush Goyal Inaugurates Second Skill Development Centre in Kandivali

Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the second Skill Development Centre in Thakur Village, Kandivali East, North Mumbai.

The initiative involves collaboration between Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

The first Skill Development Centre was inaugurated in Borivali, North Mumbai.
7. HAL, Samtel Open India’s First Public-Private Defence Avionics Facility

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Samtel Avionics inaugurated a defence avionics facility in Gurugram, Haryana.

The facility operates under their joint venture Samtel HAL Display Systems Limited (SHDS).

SHDS was established in 2006 and focuses on indigenous airborne display systems and avionics.
