1. Accenture names Ajay Vij as Country Managing Director
- Accenture has announced new appointments to its leadership
team in India. Ajay Vij has been appointed to the newly created role of Country Managing Director, and Sandeep Dutta takes over as the lead for its India Market Unit.
- The company also announced that Rekha M. Menon, Senior Managing Director and Chairperson for Accenture in India, will retire as of June 30.

2. UAE govt launches ‘Machines Can See 2023’ Summit
- The UAE Government launched the ‘Machines Can See 2023’
summit. It is one of the leading international conferences in Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the region, taking place at the Museum of the Future in Dubai in partnership between the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office and the ‘Machines Can See’ company.
- The conference aims to bring together experts from around the world to discuss the future of AI and its potential to contribute to the UAE’s vision of creating the next Silicon Valley. The UAE is the only country with a state-level AI programme, a testimony to its commitment to supporting the advancement of AI technology.

3. India’s first international multimodal logistics park coming at Jogighopa, Assam
- Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush,
Shri Sarbananda Sonowal visited the construction site of India’s first International Multi Modal Logistics park in Jogighopa, Assam to review the progress. Shri Sonowal said the jetty at the park is likely to be completed within this year. Union Minister expressed satisfaction at the pace of work as the road and railway connectivity is also aimed at completion by end of this year.

4. Adani Ports completes sale of Myanmar Port at discounted price of $30 mn
- India’s largest private port operator Adani Ports and Special
Economic Zone (APSEZ) announced the sale of the controversial Myanmar Port for a total consideration of $30 million, which is $120 million less than its last-known investment value in the port.
- In May 2022, the company had announced signing of a share-purchase agreement for the sale of its Myanmar Port. The pact had certain condition precedents (CPs), including completion of the project and relevant approvals for smooth conduct of business by the buyer.

5. SEBI introduces the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) System
- The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has
introduced the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) system for issuers that have listed or are planning to list non-convertible securities, securitized debt instruments, and security receipts.
- The LEI is a unique global identifier for legal entities participating in financial transactions. Its purpose is to create a global reference data system that uniquely identifies every legal entity that is a party to a financial transaction. The LEI code is a 20-character code to identify legally distinct entities that engage in financial transactions.

6. Former Karnataka HC Justice P Krishna Bhat appointed as administrator of BFI
- The Delhi High Court has appointed former Karnataka High
Court Justice P Krishna Bhat as the Administrator of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI). The appointment has been made to conduct elections in the organisation, and it came into force with immediate effect. The Administrator will continue to act until a newly elected body takes over the BFI.
- The court has directed the administrator to ensure that the election process is completed as soon as possible in accordance with the Sports Code. The decision was taken in response to several petitions regarding the election of office bearers and members of the executive committee for the period 2023-2027.

7. Visa introduces cvv-free online transactions for tokenised cards in india
- Visa has introduced cvv (cardholder verification value) free
online transactions for domestic tokenised credentials in India. The move is in line with the Reserve Bank of India's guidelines on tokenisation, which came into effect last year.
- The company aims to make domestic card-not-present (CNP) tokenised transactions faster while ensuring safer and more secure transactions for its consumers.Tokenised transactions are two-factor-authenticated and use an encrypted token instead of actual card details. In addition, they use a Token Authentication Verification Value (TAVV) cryptogram for cardholder-initiated transactions.
8. Pine Labs partners with ICICI Bank to accept digital rupee on its PoS terminals
- Pine Labs, a merchant commerce omni channel platform, has
announced the acceptance of Digital Rupee (e Rupee) on its PoS (Point of Sale) terminals in partnership with ICICI Bank. The technology integration between the two entities will now support e₹ acceptance at Pine Labs’ point-of-sale terminals across key retail outlets in Mumbai, Maharashtra and Bengaluru, Karnataka.
- Pine Labs’ execution of the Digital Rupee payment process is completely digital via dynamic QR built within its smart Android PoS terminals. This would present a seamless payment option to the users and improve the operational efficiency of merchants with Pine Labs PoS terminals.

9. Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra clinches Doha Diamond League title
- India's Neeraj Chopra has started the 2023 season on a bright
note by winning the javelin throw title at the ongoing Diamond League in Doha.The 25-year-old Chopra, who won the 2022 Diamond League Final trophy in Switzerland last September, won with a best throw of 88.67m.
- Chopra struck his straps on his first attempt with a world-leading throw of 88.67 metres, which was the fourth best of his career.He maintained the lead till the end to win the event in his second appearance at the Qatar Sports Club.
10. Satwik-Chirag pair wins gold medal at Badminton Asia Championships 2023
- Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty achieved a historic
milestone by becoming the first Indian men’s doubles pair to win a gold medal at the Badminton Asia Championships. The Indian duo beat the eighth-seeded Malaysian pair of Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi in the final in Dubai.
- In 2022, the sixth seeded pair had also won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the World Championships. In this tournament, the previous best performance was a bronze medal win in 1971 by an Indian men’s doubles pair, Dipu Ghosh and Raman Ghosh.
