3. Tamil Nadu Gets 'Best State' Award for Organ Donations

The award was presented based on the state's highest performance in deceased organ donation and transplantation.

The recognition is based on data maintained under the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO).

Tamil Nadu has consistently recorded the highest organ donation rate among Indian states.

The state operates a transparent organ allocation system through TRANSTAN (Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu).
4. Vice Admiral A. N. Pramod Assumes Charge as Deputy Chief of Naval Staff

Vice Admiral A. N. Pramod, AVSM, YSM assumed charge as the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (DCNS) on 1 August 2026. He succeeded Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, who retired on 31 July 2026 after over 38 years of service.

As DGNO, Vice Admiral Pramod played a key role in the planning, preparedness, and operational readiness of the Indian Navy during Operation Sindoor.

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Esri India Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Objective is to develop Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions for defence applications.

6. President Murmu Approves Maharashtra Freedom of Religion Act, 2026

The Act aims to prevent religious conversion through force, fraud, coercion, undue influence or allurement.

Illegal religious conversion can attract up to 7 years' imprisonment and a fine up to ₹1 lakh.

The President grants assent under Article 201 of the Constitution.
7. Tata's Agratas Develops Indigenous Lithium Cell Technology

Agratas, the battery manufacturing company of the Tata Group, developed indigenous lithium cell technology.

It also supports the PLI Scheme for Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) manufacturing.

Lithium-ion cells are used in EVs, mobile phones, laptops and energy storage systems.
