1. Preethi Pal Becomes First Indian Woman To Win Two Paralympic Medals In Athletics
At Paris Paralympics 2024, Indian Para Athlete Preethi Pal secured
yet another medal for India, clinching a Bronze medal in the Women’s 200 meters – T35 Final. She wozn the medal with a personal best timing of 30.01 seconds. With this win, she became the first track and field Indian Woman Para Athlete to win two medals at the Paralympics.

2.India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Maldives sign Charter and MoU for establishment of Colombo Security Conclave Secretariat
India, Maldives, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka have signed a Charter and
MoU to establish the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) Secretariat in Colombo. This initiative aims to address security and stability challenges in the Indian Ocean Region. The signing ceremony was hosted by the Sri Lankan government in Colombo.

3. PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone for Vadhvan Port, India’s Largest Deep-Water Port
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation for the Vadhvan
Port project on August 30. Located in the Palghar district of Maharashtra, about 150 km from Mumbai, Vadhvan Port will become India's largest deep-water port. The project involves an investment of ₹76,220 crore.

The Vadhvan Port will have an annual capacity of 300 million tonnes.

It will feature 9 container terminals and 4 multipurpose berths.

Construction costs will be shared between the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority and Maharashtra Maritime Board in a 74:26 ratio.

The project will be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, covering core infrastructure, terminals, and commercial facilities.
4. HAL and SAFHAL to Develop ‘Aravalli’ Engine for India’s Future Multi-Role Helicopters
SAFHAL is a joint venture between HAL and the French firm Safran
Helicopter Engines. The partnership with SAFHAL marks a critical step towards technological self-reliance in India’s aerospace and defence sector, according to HAL chief B. Ananthakrishnan.

They will jointly design, develop, and produce a new engine named ‘Aravalli’.

5. V Satish Kumar takes additional charge as Indian Oil Chairman
V Satish Kumar has taken on the additional role of Chairman of
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil), while continuing as Director (Marketing), a position he has held since October 2021. With a career spanning 35 years, Kumar also served as Director (Finance) for a year starting in October 2022, during a time of geopolitical tensions stemming from the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

India’s Nishad Kumar secured a silver medal in the men’s T47 high
jump final at the Paris Paralympics on September 2. Kumar, who previously claimed silver in Tokyo, recorded his season-best jump of 2.04 meters to finish in second place. Townsend-Roberts of the United States claimed the gold medal with a season-best jump of 2.08 meters, pulling ahead of India’s Nishad Kumar. Russia’s Georgii Margiev took home the bronze.

8. Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit Takes Over As AOC-In-C, Central Air Command
Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vayu Sena
Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, assumed the appointment of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Air Command on September 1. Air Marshal Dixit was commissioned into the fighter stream of IAF on December 6, 1986. The Air Officer is an experimental test pilot and a qualified flying instructor with more than 3300 hours of flying experience on a variety of aircraft in the IAF inventory.

with a bronze medal in Paris. She rose on the occasion and clinched a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol SH1 event. Para-athletes never have an easy journey, as they have to fight against all odds and show grit and resilience to reach the top, which was also the case with Rubina.

10. World Coconut Day Observed on 2nd September
World Coconut Day was established in 2009 by the Asian and Pacific
Coconut Community (APCC), an intergovernmental organization under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. The APCC, representing 19 coconut-producing countries in the Asia-Pacific region, chose September 2 to commemorate the organization’s founding in 1969.
