1. Lionel Messi Retires from International Football

• Lionel Messi announced his retirement from international football with Argentina, ending a 21-year international career and having represented Argentina in a record six FIFA World Cups from 2006 to 2026.
• His final international appearance came in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, where Argentina lost 1–0 to Spain after extra time. 
• Messi is the only player to have won the FIFA World Cup Golden Ball twice, receiving the award in 2014 and 2022.

2. India Inaugurates Green Forge Complex at BRIC-NABI Mohali

• Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the first-of-its-kind “Green Forge” Complex at BRIC-NABI, Mohali, Punjab.
• The Green Forge facility is a major facility for genetically modified (GM) crop research and was described as a milestone in the genetically modified crop revolution.
• BRIC-NABI stands for Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council – National Agri-food & Biomanufacturing Institute (NABI).

3. 26th SCO Summit Begins in Bishkek

• The 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit is held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
• The SCO currently has 10 member countries:  China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India & Pakistan (2017), Iran (2023), Belarus (2024).
• The headquarters of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is located in Beijing, China.

4. NCDEX Launches RAINCHNNAI Weather Derivatives

• National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) launches RAINCHNNAI, a rainfall-based weather derivatives futures contract for Chennai.
• RAINCHNNAI is designed to help market participants hedge financial risks arising from rainfall variability during the Northeast (retreating) Monsoon.
• RAINCHNNAI covers September–December, the key Northeast Monsoon period for Chennai

5. Kissht Launches Campaign with Sachin Tendulkar

• Kissht, an RBI-registered Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), launches its new brand campaign titled “Loans Without Any Hiccups”.
• Sachin Tendulkar is appointed as Kissht’s brand ambassador for a three-year period.
• Kissht states that loans can be approved in as little as 5 minutes.

6. Lallianzuala Chhangte Named Indian Footballer of the Year 2026

• Lallianzuala Chhangte, who belongs to Mizoram in Northeast India, has been named Indian Footballer of the Year 2026 at the Football Players’ Association of India (FPAI) Indian Football Awards 2026.
• The award was presented by Indian football legend Bhaichung Bhutia, who is also the founding president of FPAI.
• Manisha Kalyan, who hails fromHoshiarpur, Punjab, was named the Indian Women’s Player of the Year 2026.

7.Airbus Awards A320 Fuselage Skin Manufacturing Contract to Mahindra Aerostructures

• Airbus has awarded Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt. Ltd. (MASPL) a multi-year contract to manufacture and supply fuselage skins for the A320 family of aircraft.
• The contract covers the Airbus A320neo and A321XLR aircraft.
• The components will be manufactured at Mahindra Aerostructures’ facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and supplied to Airbus Aerostructures’ facility in Augsburg, Germany.

8.Tommy Koh, Runa Khan and Bo Kyi Win 2026 Ramon Magsaysay Award

• Tommy Koh (Singapore), Runa Khan (Bangladesh), and Bo Kyi (Myanmar) are the three recipients of the 2026 Ramon Magsaysay Award.
• The 2026 award ceremony is scheduled at the Metropolitan Theatre in Manila, Philippines.

• Vinoba Bhave (1958) was the first Indian recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award whileEducate Girls, India (2025) became the first Indian organisation to receive the award.
