1. IPU vice-chancellor Mahesh Verma is now NABH chairperson
  • Vice-Chancellor of Indraprastha University Mahesh Verma has been appointed as a new chairperson of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH).
  • NABH is a constituent board of the Quality Council of India (QCI)
  • This is responsible for setting benchmarks for quality and certifying hospitals and other health facilities.
  • NABH is also a member of the board of the Asian Society for Quality in Healthcare.

2. Utkal Diwas is Observed on April 1 every year
  • The formation day of Odisha is observed on April 1 as Utkal Diwas or Odisha Day in remembrance of the struggle to make Odisha an independent state on April 1, 1936.
  • After the 113th amendment act, Orissa was renamed Odisha.
  • The official language of Odisha, Odiya also listed in the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India.
  • On 19 August 1949, Bhubaneswar replaced Cuttack as capital.

3. Google Pay offers ‘Tap to Pay’ for UPI users in partnership with Pine Labs
  • Google Pay offers the Tap to Pay for Unified Payment Interface (UPI) users in partnership with Pine Labs.
  • Earlier, Tap to Pay was available for cards, but now this payment function is available on the phone also.
  • Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled Android smartphones can do transactions using any Pine Labs Android POS terminal across the country.
  • Noida based Pine Labs is an Indian merchant platform company.

4. Lepakshi Nandi, Veerabhadra temple on World Heritage tentative list
  • The Sri Veerabhadra Swamy temple was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list with the Monolithic Bull (Nandi) at Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh.
  • The Sri Veerabhadra Swamy temple is also known as the Lepakshi temple is dedicated to Veerabhadra (Shiva)
  • The temple is known for the Vijayanagara sculpture and mural painting on the ceiling as traditional art.

5. Chief Justice of India N V Ramana launches software to transmit court orders swiftly
  • Chief Justice of India, N V Ramana has launched FASTER (Fast and Secured Transmission of Electronic Records), to communicate interim orders, stay orders, bail orders, etc., of the Supreme Court to concerned authorities through a secured electronic communication channel.
  • The aim: Eliminate the delay in to release of inmates even after the Supreme Court grants them bail.
  • A digital platform FASTER was initiated led by CJI Ramana bench.
6. Navy presented with ‘Best Marching Contingent’ trophy for Republic Day Parade
  • The Best Marching Contingent Trophy for Republic Day Parade 2022 to personnel of the Naval Contingent was presented by Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff.
  • The contingent was led by Lt Cdr Aanchal Sharma with Lt Shubham Sharma as platoon commanders and comprised 96 young sailors.
  • Uttar Pradesh won the best state tableau for Republic Day 2022 for the showcase of One District One Product and Kashi Vishwanath Dham.

7. India- Seychelles Joint Military Exercise Lamitiye 2022 Concluded
  • The 9th edition of Lamitiye 2022 held at Seychelles Defence Academy, Seychelles was concluded.
  • The themes for Lamitiye 2022 Joint Training Exercise were both relevant and contemporary for planning & execution of operations based on scenarios in a Semi-Urban environment.
  • The 10 days long exercise focused on enhancing interworking to develop the capability to undertake joint operations in a semi-urban environment.

8. Vishwas Patel re-elected as chairman of Payments Council of India
  • Executive director of Infibeam Avenues Vishwas Patel has been re-elected as chairman of the Payments Council of India (PCI).
  • Payment Council of India is the apex industry for digital operators in India’s payments and settlement system that operates under the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).

9. Microsoft launches Founders Hub platform in India to empower startups
  • Microsoft launched Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub platform in India to provide support of USD 300,000, including technology and tools from the tech giant and partners.
  • After the USA and China, India is the third-largest ecosystem for startups globally.
  • The hub was set up with an aim to empower entrepreneurs to innovate and grow by connecting them with mentors.

10. ADB provides USD 143 million to Bangladesh
  • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan package of USD 143 million for Bangladesh to support government efforts to speed up the growth by improving the efficiency, predictability, and security of cross-border trade.
  • The ADB loan package includes a $90 million International policy-based loan, a $53 million project loan that will construct integrated land customs and $1.5 million in technical assistance
