  • The Historic Speech: On April 21, 1947, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Home Minister of Independent India, addressed the first batch of probationers of Administrative Service officers at Metcalf House, Delhi.
  • The "Steel Frame": In this speech, he famously referred to civil servants as the "Steel Frame of India," emphasizing their role as the backbone of the country's administration.
  • First Celebration: The first National Civil Services Day was held on April 21, 2006, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
Purpose of the Day
