Answer and Explanation:

1. Option (c) is the correct alternative as the sentence starts with ‘Today’ and hence it needs to be in Present Indefinite Tense.

Thus the correct sentence is ‘Today, the complexities of policy – making are such that senior civil servants are required to have in – depth knowledge of the areas they administer.’

2. Option (b) is the correct alternative as the sentence is not comparing the two approaches so ‘than’ cannot be used. ‘To’ should be used as the sentence is showing priority of one approach to another.

Thus the correct sentence is ‘Administrative Reforms Commission envisaged a shift from a career – based approach to a post – based approach.’

3. Option (c) is the correct alternative as the Passive voice is used thus third form of both the verbs ‘captured’ and ‘shared’ must be used.

Thus the correct sentence is ‘With every moment being captured and shared by someone, somewhere, the art of photography is no longer meaningful.’

4. Option (d) is the correct alternative as the sentence is already grammatically correct and requires no correction.

5. Option (a) is the correct alternative as ‘to’ used in the first part of the sentence is valid for all the parts and hence they need to be in first form. ‘Inter – states’ is the wrong usage. Also ‘export’ is not used. It is usually used in the plural sense.

Thus the correct sentence is ‘The immediate reaction is to impose stock – holding limits, allow duty – free imports, restrict exports and inter – state movement of produce.’

6. Option (b) is the correct alternative as ‘were’ cannot be used for ‘Arjun’ in the first alternative. ‘In love with’ is the correct grammatical usage.

Thus the correct sentence is ‘The general perception during this phase was that Arjun was a boy in love with the game but it was not clear whether he had the skills to grade up.’

7. Option (a) is the correct alternative as the sentence is talking about years of public service thus the verb must be in Past Tense. And ‘that too’ must be used to further emphasize the sentence.

Thus the correct sentence is ‘His long years of public service did not need public articulation and that too within the ranks of those whose purpose in life is to deconstruct the legacy of India.’

8. Option (d) is the correct alternative as the sentence is already grammatically correct and requires no correction.

9. Option (c) is the correct alternative as the first part of the sentence is in Simple Present Tense, thus the second part must be in Future Indefinite Tense. ‘His’ should not be used for ‘borrowers’ thus option (a) is not correct. Option (b) is also wrong as the sentence is not only talking about one ‘borrower’.

Thus the correct sentence is ‘A credit enhancement fund provides an additional source of guarantee that the borrowers will service their loan.’

10. Option (b) is the correct alternative as ‘sales’ must replace ‘sale’ in the sentence. As the sentence is talking about something that has already happened thus Present Perfect Tense must be used. ‘Have’ must be used in the first alternative instead of ‘has’.

Thus the correct sentence is ‘Industry is well on the track as far as sales growth is concerned. All the segments have shown robust sales during the month.’
