New Pattern Reasoning Ability Questions for IBPS PO 2018

Direction (1 to 5): In every question two rows are given and to find out the resultant of a particular row you need to follow the following steps: -
Step 1: If an even number is followed by an odd (prime) number then the resultant will be the addition of both the numbers.
Step 2: If an odd number is followed by a perfect square then the resultant will be the subtraction of the square number from the odd number.
Step 3: If an odd number is followed by another odd number then the resultant will be the addition of both the numbers.
Step 4: If an even number is followed by an odd (non-prime) number then the resultant will be the subtraction of the odd number from the even number.
Step 5: If an odd number is followed by an even number then the resultant comes by multiplying the numbers.
1. If the sum of the resultants of two rows is 54. Then find the value of X.

Answers:
Ans1: (D)
In first row 1st number is even and next number is 15 which is an odd number (Condition 4 applied) = 18 – 15 = 3
Now 3 is odd number 6 is an even number (Condition 5 applied) = 6 × 3 = 18
Therefore resultant of first row is 18.
In second row first number is 8 which is even and next number is 5 which is an odd prime number (Condition 1 applied) = 8 + 5 = 13
We know that (54-18=36) is not a multiple of 13. Therefore it cant be an even number. It also cant be a perfect square since the difference would be negative which can't be the answer.
But as we know that sum of resultant of both row is 54
13 + X + 18 = 54
X + 31 = 54
X = 23 (which is as we assumed odd number)
Therefore, X = 23 is correct option.
Ans2: (A)
In first row 1st number is Odd and next number is 4 which is a perfect square. (Condition 2 applied) = 13 – 4 = 9
Now 9 is odd number 5 is a odd number (Condition 3 applied) = 9 + 5 = 14
Therefore resultant of first row is 14.
In second row first number is 1 which is odd and X = 14 is an even number (Condition 5 applied) = 1 × 14 = 14
Now 14 is an even number and 7 is prime odd Number(Condition 1 applied) = 14 + 7 = 21
Therefore resultant of 2nd row will be 21.
Ans3: (B)
43 is odd number and 36 is perfect square (Condition 2 applied) = 43 – 36 = 7
Now 7 is odd number and 2 is even number (Condition 5 applied) = 7 × 2 = 14
X is resultant of 2nd row therefore X = 14
Now in first row 14 is even number and 5 is prime odd number (Condition 1 applied) = 14 + 5 = 19
Now 19 is odd number and 16 is perfect square (Condition 2 applied) = 19 – 16 = 3
Hence resultant of 1st row will be 3
Sum of resultant of 1st and 2nd row = 3 + 14 = 17
Ans4: (E)
In first row 14 is even number and 9 is odd number (Condition 4 applied) = 14 – 9 = 5
Now 6 is an even number and 5 is odd prime number (Condition 1 applied) = 5 + 5 = 10
Therefore resultant of the first row is 10.
In 2nd row 21 is an odd number and 16 is a perfect square (Condition 2 applied) = 21 – 16 = 5
Now 5 is an odd number and 4 is a perfect square (Condition 2 applied) = 5 – 4 = 1
Therefore resultant of 2nd row is 1
Difference between resultants of the first and 2nd row = 10 – 1 = 9.
Ans5: (C)
In first row 7 is odd number and 8 is even number (Condition 5 applied) = 7 × 8 = 56
Now 56 is even number and 3 is odd prime number (Condition 1 applied) = 56 + 3 = 59
Therefore resultant of the first row is 59.
In 2nd row 3 is an odd number and 9 is a perfect square (Condition 2 applied) = 9 – 3 = 6
Now 6 is an even number and 3 is an odd prime number (Condition 1 applied) = 6 + 3 = 9
Therefore resultant of 2nd row is 9.
Difference between resultants of the first and 2nd row = 59 – 9 = 50.
