1.Navy inducts 3 indigenously-built advanced light helicopters ALH MK III
  • The Indian Navy Monday inducted three indigenously-built advanced light helicopters ALH MK III that would be used for maritime reconnaissance and coastal security.
  • The three helicopters, made by the Centre-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, were inducted at the Indian Naval Station (INS) Dega, Eastern Naval Command (ENC), in Visakhapatnam.
  • ALH MK III helicopters feature an array of systems previously seen only on heavier, multi-role helicopters of the Indian Navy.
  • In addition to special operations capabilities, ALH MK III is also fitted with a heavy machine gun to undertake constabulary missions.
  • Navy Inducts 3 Indigenously-Built Advanced Light Helicopters.
  • The three helicopters were inducted at Indian Naval Station Dega, Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam.
  • A removable medical intensive care unit (ICU) is also fitted on ALH MK III helicopters to airlift critically ill patients.

2.World Accreditation Day 2021: 9th June
  • World Accreditation Day (WAD) is observed every year on 9 June to promote the role of accreditation in trade & economy.
  • Theme for WAD 2021: Accreditation: Supporting the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • WAD is a global initiative, jointly established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation.
3.Anup Chandra Pandey appointed as Election Commissioner
  • Anup Chandra Pandey (retired IAS officer of 1984 batch, UP cadre) has been appointed as the Election Commissioner of India by the Union Government.
  • He has been appointed to fill the place left vacant by Sunil Arora.
  • Election Commission consists of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and 2 Election Commissioners.
  • Presently, Sushil Chandra is CEC and Rajiv Kumar is the other Election Commissioner.
  • They will now oversee the elections in UP, Punjab, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand.
4.New income tax e-filing portal to be launched on June 7
  • The Income Tax Department is expected to launch a new e-filing web portal for taxpayers, that can be used to file routine ITRs and perform other tax-related works, early next month.
  • The Income Tax Department will launch a new e–filing portalto further ease the filing of income tax returns (ITRs).
  • The e–portal, which, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) mentioned, it will provide a “modern, seamless” experience to taxpayers, will be available at www.incometax.gov.in.
5.Rhea Chakraborty topped ‘The Times 50 Most Desirable Women 2020’ list!
  • Bollywood actor Rhea Chakraborty has topped the list of The Times 50 Most Desirable Women 2020. The list releases three days after her former boyfriend late actor Sushant Singh Rajput occupied the top position in The Times 50 Most Desirable Men 2020 list.
  • The 28-year-old actor was earlier arrested in a drug case related to Rajput's death in 2020 and later secured bail.
  • The Times 50 Most Desirable Women 2020 list features women under 40 across various fields. It puts the spotlight on those who have made a mark in the last one year and won hearts. The ranking is based on votes cast in an online poll, along with an internal jury.
6.India elected to UN Economic and Social Council for 2022-24 term
  • India has been elected as the member of 54-member United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for 3-year terms from 2022 to 2024.
  • It has been selected by UN General Assembly in Asia-Pacific States category, along with Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Oman.

About ECOSOC:

It is one of the six main organs of UN.
It serves as the central platform for discussing international economic, social and environmental issues and formulating policy recommendations.
 
7.Govt issued guidelines for e-Content development for disabled Children
  • Union Govt has issued guidelines for the development of e-Content for Children with disabilities based on four principles of robust, perceivable, operable, and understandable.
  • These guidelines will initiate creation of high-quality content for digital education to children with special needs.
  • Dept of School Education and Literacy under Ministry of Education had constituted experts committee for recommending guidelines for developing e-content for disabled children.
8.NITI Aayog recommends privatisation of Central Bank & Indian Overseas Bank
  • NITI Aayog has recommended privatization of Central Bank of India and Indian Overseas Bank in the current fiscal (2021-22), as part of the disinvestment process announced in Union Budget 2021-22.
  • Under the privatisation initiative, NITI Aayog was entrusted to suggest names of PSUs in strategic sectors to be merged, privatised, or made subsidiaries of other PSUs
  • Dept of Investment and Public Asset Management and Dept of Financial Services will now examine this proposal .

9.IISc, Bengaluru ranked Best Indian University in Times University Rankings
  • Three Indian Universities have made it to the top 100 list of Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2021.
  • Apart from it, 63 Indian universities found place in 2021 list, however, none of them could make to top 10.
  • IISc, Bengaluru has been ranked 37th for the seventh year in a row.
  • The other two universities in top 100: IIT, Ropar (55) and IIT, Indore (78)
  • India is ranked 3rd in representation of universities
  • Japan was ranked first, followed by China.
10.RBI imposes penalty on Bank of India & PNB for Violation of Norms
  • RBI has imposed monetary penalty on Bank of India and Punjab National Bank (PNB) for contravention of norms related to Frauds Classification and Reporting
  • Penalty imposed on Bank of India is of Rs 4 crore and Rs 2 crore on Punjab National Bank.
  • They has been fined for non-compliance with RBI directions, breach of stipulated transaction limits; delay in transfer of unclaimed balances to DEA Fund; delay in reporting a fraud to RBI, sale of a fraudulent asset.
